The paintings were created by artists who practise Falun Dafa. They vividly picture scenes of true life in today's China, touching the hearts of many in the audience. They display the beauty of Falun Dafa, expose the Chinese Communist Party's brutal persecution in China, and reflect the courage and faith of Falun Dafa practitioners.
Many students came to see the exhibition, with over 600 in attendance at one particular time. The visitors were not only from Cape Town but also surrounding towns and cities. The exhibition was publicised on local radio and TV and promoted at the Tri-Country Film Festival. It received a lot of support.
Many visitors were moved. Some were in tears and wrote down their praise and encouragement in the visitors' book.
During the exhibition, the Chinese Consulate instigated a few Chinese to interfere and harass. They also put pressure on the management of the shopping centre to close the exhibition. Local practitioners explained the situation to the management, telling them why they had been targeted by Chinese consular officials. Recognising the evil nature of the Communist Party and the importance of protecting human rights, they became very supportive and allowed the exhibition to continue without interference.
