The Salmon Days Festival in Issaquah originated in 1970, and celebrates the salmon returning to the lakes, streams and downtown hatchery every October. Each year the festival attracts 250,000-300,000 people.
September and October are rainy months in northwest Washington, so this festival is often held in the rain. Falun Gong practitioners set up their booth and did their exercises quietly in the rain. Many people asked for information out of curiosity. Falun Gong practitioners introduced Falun Gong to the visitors and told them about the brutal persecution ongoing in China. Upon hearing about the persecution, people condemned the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) atrocities and expressed their support of Falun Gong.
A nineteen-year-old exchange student from Germany showed great interest and asked where to find Falun Gong exercise sites in Germany. She got the information she needed from Falun Gong practitioners.
