The Persecution of Ms. Yu Liqiu and Her Husband, Mr. Dong Yufeng from Jilin Province

On the night of September 12th, 2008, Ms. Yu Liqiu, a teacher at Dongfeng County No. 3 School, and Mr. Dong Yufeng, self-employed, went to Xiaosiping Township to distribute Falun Gong materials. They were arrested and incarcerated in the Dongfeng County Detention Centre. On September 19th, Liaoyuan City 610 Office¹ personnel went to Mr. Dong and Ms. Yu's residence and confiscated their child's computer.

After their arrest on September 12th, the two practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The guards physically assaulted them and threatened to force-feed them with hot pepper juice and salt liquid. The guards still do not allow any family visits. Their current situations are unknown. Their family received a notice saying that their cases have been transferred to the courts.

On August 5th, 2008, personnel from the county Politics and Law Committee 610 Office, the police department, and the education bureau all ganged up. The No. 3 School principal personally made a phone call to Yu Liqiu, who was teaching a class at that time. They hoodwinked her into going to the education bureau and then took her to a brainwashing centre. She was compelled to write the "Four Statements" before being released. This incident pained her and her family greatly. On August 5th, Dong Yufeng was almost captured and sent to the brainwashing centre.

Ms. Yu has a father in his 80s and a son still in school. The two of them still need her to take care of them. Mr. Dong had to close his hair salon business.

Policeman Chen Shuangyou from the National Security Division of the county police department has been actively participating in the persecution since 1999. He has prepared all the documents relating to practitioners who have been detained or sentenced to forced labour. He has managed to deceive many practitioners with his pretence of kindness. Practitioner Dai Shuli was his classmate, yet he had her sentenced to three years of forced labour. He has also abused his power and extorted money from practitioners' families.

Liu Changlin is in his 40s. He is currently the chief of Dongfeng Police Department and also head of the Politics and Law Committee. He has followed Chinese Communist Party (CCP) orders closely and gone against his conscience to persecute kind hearted practitioners. His mobile phone is 86-13904374252.
