Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article appearing on the minghui.ca website (The Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).

In the past nine years, officers from the Chishui City Police Department actively participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. In this region 20 to 30 practitioners' homes were ransacked, and their families were victims of extortion by the police. Mr. Dai Qiyuan and his wife were twice sentenced to forced labour in the Zhongba Labour Camp. They are currently detained in the Chishui City Detention Centre, and have been secretly sentenced to prison. Mr. Dai's older brother Mr. Dai Qiming (in his 70s), has been detained multiple times and subjected to extortion. In addition, the whereabouts of his children are currently unknown.

At the end of 2007, police ransacked the home of Mr. He Renfa and his wife Qin Shoufang. They arrested the couple because the wife practises Falun Gong. The police also surrounded practitioner Ms. Liu Bo's home located in the Chitian Fertilizer Corp. family housing. They arrested her daughter Chen Hui who is unemployed, and also detained practitioner Ms. Huang Jialan (lives in Chishui City) for two days.

In March of 2008, police arrested Mr. Li Zhengbing, of the Wenhua Township. He is very weak following the brutal mistreatment he suffered in the Chishui City Detention Centre. The village officials also routinely interrogate his wife every time she visits him.
