A Mother In Her Eighties Calls for Help to Rescue Her Persecuted Son

At dusk on May 8th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Song Bangfu, from Guiyang in Guizhou Province, drove to Guiyangerqiao to visit an elderly friend, He Meixian. Officers from the Guiyang Public Security Bureau and the Touqiao Police Station were waiting for him. They beat him mercilessly in front of hundreds of neighbourhood residents. At another location, these policemen tried to force him to confess to crimes he didn't commit by torturing him day and night, without letting him have a moment of rest. After that, Mr. Song was held at the Lannigou Detention Centre in Guiyang, where the torture continued until he was close to death. Then, he was sent to the Taiciqiao Public Security Hospital and was detained there. In June, he was secretly sentenced to two years of forced labour and was sent to the Zhongba Forced Labour Camp. His family was not notified. Mr. Song Bangfu is currently close to death.

His mother, a Buddhist practitioner in her eighties, has been trying to obtain help to rescue her son and has seen numerous officials and lawyers. However, as soon as they heard that her son practises Falun Gong, they said that high ranking officials were involved, and they dared not to take the case. Since Mr. Song was arrested, his mother has not been allowed to see him. Helpless, she sometimes cries out, "Who can help rescue my son who is being tortured to death?"

According to his mother, Song Bangfu has a kind heart, always thinks of other people first, and has been acknowledged as a good person by all the people that know him. He travelled to Beijing to call for justice for Falun Gong, but was arrested and sent to a forced labour camp, where he was deprived of sleep for more than one week and brutally tortured.
