On July 14th, 2007, the Tianxin District National Security Team of Changsha City, Hunan Province, barged into the home of 68-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xie Wutang and arrested him. From his arrest to his trial to his prison sentence, no legal procedures were followed. Mr. Xie is now being detained in the Third Team of the Fifth Division of Wuling Prison, Changde City, Hunan Province.
Over the past few days Mr. Xie's health has deteriorated. In the Changsha City Detention Centre he was persecuted until he developed tuberculosis. He suffered from cerebral arteriosclerosis and a protruding invertebral disc. He subsequently suffers dizziness and migraines every day and pressure in the chest. Recently his feet have began to swell, and he has terrible pain in his hips. He has trouble moving around, his lower teeth have fallen out, and it is extremely difficult for him to chew. (Because he could not chew, he narrowly escaped choking to death.) his family is extremely concerned about his health.
According to Chinese law, people in this condition cannot be kept in jail, and how much more so for someone nearing 70? This nine-year-long persecution should immediately stop, and all practitioners--who are innocent and have been jailed --should be unconditionally released.
