"Oh! I think that this show is beautiful. The colors, the costumes, the movements. I liked the way every story was explained before they actually performed it. The singing was awesome. I think it was beautiful!" enthusiastically exclaimed Merri Harris, a retired corrections officer for the state of New Jersey, just after watching Divine Performing Arts Chinese New Year Splendor in Newark.
"I think this show is enlightening," continued Officer Harris. "Wisdom, and hope for the future. My favorite performance was 'Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution.'" In this performance, an innocent young child watches as her father is torn away from his loving family, because he practises Falun Gong. Her father's tragic death is a painful reality in China for countless victims of the persecution of this spiritual discipline.
Officer Harris joined an appreciative audience that welcomed Divine Performing Arts to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. "This was a new experience for me, you know, something different, and I loved it! It was all just beautiful. It was delightful. I came out feeling really great!"
Officer Harris concluded, "They said they'll be back next year. I'll definitely be back next year!"
