Ms. Chen Lirong Suffers Brutal Persecution in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

Chen Lirong is a 40-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Fuzhoucheng Town, Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province. Officers from Fuzhou Township Police Station raided her home and arrested her on August 1st, 2007. She is currently suffering brutal persecution in the notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. When her family visited Ms. Chen recently, they noticed her hands and arms were covered with scars, and they asked her what had happened. She told them that because she would not give up her belief, the guards tied her hands and hung her up, with her feet barely touching the floor. She was suspended like that for over 13 hours. The scars on her hands were caused by the rope.

In the middle of January 2009, her husband visited her, but he was not able to get close to her. She was wearing a hat and scarf, and several guards surrounded her. Because she was covered with layers of clothes, her husband was very concerned that she had been tortured again, so he asked her to remove the hat and scarf. Since there were so many guards nearby, she did not dare to.

Another practitioner, Li Deqing, age 60, was also arrested on August 1st, 2007. He is from Antai Village, Fuzhoucheng Town. He is still being held in the Dalian Correction Centre, where he has suffered brutal torture and was tied on a death bed for days. He was also tortured on a rack, which is made from a steel bar with handcuffs and shackles. When a person is secured in the rack, he cannot stand, lie down, or sit straight.
