On February 20th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioners from Finland came to the square on the north side of the central railway station in Helsinki. They held an activity to expose to people how the evil Chinese Communist Party has been cruelly persecuting Falun Gong practitioners for more than nine years. Many people signed the petition against the persecution one after another.

Although the temperature was very low and the wind was cold, many passers-by stopped and talked to practitioners to express their appreciation for what the practitioners did.

Stopped in front of the information posters, Mirja and Eero told the practitioner that they had seen practitioners holding activities here last summer, but they did not want to know what Falun Gong was. On hearing Anna’s introduction and seeing here there was a signature collection condemning the persecution, Eero told Mirja, his girlfriend, “We should sign the petition today.” They were very moved when chatting with the practitioner for a while. They felt extremely cold though they had only stayed outside for a little while, yet Falun Gong practitioners had been standing there for several hours in such bitter cold weather.

A lady who has been to Beijing told the practitioner that she understood the situation there and supported what Falun Gong practitioners did. She did hope that such a condition should be changed as soon as possible, and thought that the international community should pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong. As there were tragedies happening every day, the international community should take quick action. She said that though Finland is a small country, its government should do something about it. And she believed that Finland would be the first country who will help stop the persecution.

An elderly lady was very interested when accepting a leaflet. She is a Christian and knows that there are many devout Christians who were persecuted in China in the past and was very worried about Falun Gong. She thought that Falun Gong is different from those who believe in other religions, they are peaceful, determined and not imposing. Now there were too many negative things in the world and the values and beliefs of Finnish people were also going down. What was needed here was something good (referring to Falun Gong). She said that the CCP was very much afraid of people who hold firmly to their belief.
