Liu Hong is a Falun Gong practitioner and the owner of a restaurant in Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. As she was going to work at about 2:00 p.m. on February 24th, 2009, she was arrested by Jin Fangji, the head of the 610 Office1 of Jun County, Shiyan City. About seven officers from Wuhan City Police Department were involved as well. The police took her key and ransacked her home.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., Ms. Liu was take away by Jin Fangji and Feng Wehui from the Xujiapeng Police Station. Currently, her whereabouts are unknown and her family members have not heard any information about her condition or whereabouts for more than 23 days.
Her husband, Shi Lei, is also a Falun Gong practitioner. He was sentenced to eleven years in jail. He is now in Fanjiatai Prison in the Shayang District and has been for more than six years.
Ms. Liu has been taking care of her parents and her parents-in-law. All four of them are over 70 years old. Her son is in middle school. Her father cannot not take care of himself and is very weak after having endured so many mental burdens. There is now no one to take care of him.
On October 30th, 2002, officers from Wuhan City Police Department broke into Mr. Shi Lei's home. They arrested him and his wife and ransacked their home and their restaurant. Policemen took away their computer, CD burner, and Falun Gong materials. On the morning of July 11th, 2003, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members secretly tried Shi Lei without informing his family. He was sentenced to eleven years in jail and sent to Qinduankou Prison in Wuhan City.
