From March 17th to 19th, 2009, police from the Mengyin 610 Office1 and local police station harassed and arrested several local, blacklisted, Falun Gong practitioners and their homes were ransacked.
Ms. Liu Guimei, a practitioner in Tiecheng village, Mengyin county, was arrested that same day while she was in the Jushan market. It was said that when Ms. Liu was arrested, she shouted, "Falun Gong is Good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good." On March 18th, when Liu's husband, Wang Mingji, went to the Jushan police station to ask for her release he was also arrested. Only their child, Yangyang, was left at home. This couple has been arrested several times.
From March 18th to19th, officers from Mengyin 610 Office and Gongyeyuan police station also harassed Falun Gong practitioners. Zhang Tianzhi, a practitioner in Caozhuang village, had to leave his home and go from place to place to avoid the constant persecution. Sui Xueling, a practitioner in Liuguanzhuang village, was arrested at home.
On March 19th, a group of people from the Mengyin Town 610 Office arrested Falun Gong practitioners Li Guixiang and Zhang Duhe and ransacked Kan Jixiang's home.
From March 17th to the present, police officers continue to arrest practitioners and confiscate their property. Wang Mingjun was arrested by the policemen that had been monitoring him. The officers even harass practitioners' families. The Falun Gong practitioners who were registered on July 20th, 1999, are being harassed on a large scale.
On March 17th, Cao Changfang was arrested and detained by officers from the Mengyin 610 Office and the local police station. They extorted 600 yuan2 from Cao's family.
Practitioners are now being arrested and harassed on a large scale.

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
2. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.
