Ms. Dai Chunhua was a 33-year-old lady Dafa practitioner who lived in Siping City, Jilin Province. She worked as a nurse in the county hospital. On February 17, 2002, police arrested her and sent her into the City' Detention Centre. On March 9, 2002, her family saw her body in the city morgue. It was also learned that two more practitioners were arrested at the same time as Ms. Dai, because thugs who wanted the reward money [the police listed Dafa practitioners as wanted and offered a reward for their capture.] had reported them.

Prior to her death, to protest the persecution, Dai had held a hunger strike in the detention centre.

Ms. Dai Chunhua began her practice of Falun Gong in 1996 and progressed well. On New Year' Day 2001, she went to Beijing to peacefully appeal, and was arrested, then escorted back to her native area. She was there further persecuted and forced to quit her job. In order to avoid being illegally sent to a brainwashing class, Ms. Dai had no choice but to leave home and move frequently, avoiding arrest.

Remembering that many people in her hometown were still being deluded by lies and slanders and that they did not know the truth, Ms. Dai risked her own life and returned to Siping City, where she used her meagre savings to make Dafa materials. The evil thugs advertised her as "wanted by police with reward for capture" and later they reported her.

The Lishu County area where Ms. Dai was from is known for its poverty. Furthermore, left behind is Ms. Dai' mother, who is more than 70 years old and her young son, eight years old.
