Having travelled to more than forty countries in five continents, the Truth Compassion Forbearance International Art Exhibition was held at the Kaohsiung Public Library from May 2nd to May 7th, 2009. Through realistic technique, the artworks told of the journey of people who cultivate in Falun Dafa and follow Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. The positive, purely compassionate artworks uplifted people's spirit. Many well-known people in the arts and education fields visited the exhibition and were deeply moved.
Professor Tseng Shang-wei of the National Taiwan University of the Arts said, "If this set of artwork can be shown in Mainland China, China can be saved. The inside story of the CCP [Chinese Communist Party] and the true story [of Falun Gong] are more important than anything else. If it can be shown in China, everything will be clear. The lies will collapse." He added, "The paintings are exquisite. The dimension of idea is very broad. The artists must have seen it before they could paint such lifelike works."
Dr. Igor Bbckih, visiting Russian professor at National Sun Yat-sen University |
Dr. Igor Bbckih, visiting Russian professor at National Sun Yat-sen University, told the reporter, "I feel it is great! I admire the artwork very much! It makes me feel very calm. It is hard to believe a government persecutes its own people. I am interested in learning more about Falun Gong. When I was in Russia, I heard about the persecution of Falun Gong and organ harvesting. I don't know too much about it and would like to learn more."
Dr. Bbckih continued, "My favorite is 'Mother and Son.' The artist showed the sadness of the mother. I am very touched. I am from Russia. Things like this have happened in Russia. It seems to be close to my heart." Dr. Bbckih couldn't help tears from coming to his eyes. "A painting has both Western Gods and Eastern Gods in it. It is impossible to see this in the Western world. Maybe the eastern artists are more magnanimous. In other countries, even Christianity has many branches that don't deal with each other."
Principal Wu Yo-ching |
Mr. Wu Yo-ching ended his meeting of Kaohsiung middle-school principals early in order to visit the exhibition. He said, "I learned from the guide not only the beauty of the art, but also the deep meaning of the artworks. The beautiful cultivation in the artworks is a topic of self-improvement. Some artworks showed vivid facial expressions of those persecuted. Every piece is based on a true story and inspires a strong sense of justice. We should condemn and stop the persecution. Freedom of belief is a basic human right. It is hard to believe the CCP even controls people's belief."
Stereoscopic sculpture expert Mr. Yan Chao-ching visited the art exhibition and told the reporter, "Every piece of artwork is so lifelike! The facial expressions are very vivid. The message behind the work is very meaningful! It takes a lot of training to create such quality oil painting. I am very moved by the painting, 'Tragedy in China.' It has unique cross composition. The courage to die for truth is very moving. What a highly skilled realism painting!"
Mrs. Fang is from the Mainland China. She took her child and friend to visit the exhibition. She couldn't help getting tears in her eyes upon seeing the artwork about the persecution. She said, "It is too cruel! The people in Mainland China don't know much about this. The persecution is true but covered up. The CCP commits crimes behind the scenes. Human rights and life are respected in Taiwan and other countries. But it is different in Mainland China. If something happens, it is always horrible. I have Falun Gong friends in Taiwan. They are very gentle and sincere. I don't understand why the Mainland has to persecute Falun Gong. I hope the CCP will stop the persecution and respect life and human rights."
Children from the Minghui School carefully look at a painting |
The first group at the exhibition were children from the Minghui School. The exhibition guide told them the meaning of the artworks. They actively asked questions and concentrated very well. Some kids said to each other, pointing at the painting entitled "Vow," "The characters in the painting look like us." Some said they would study the Fa every day like the brother and sister in the painting. Some said they would send forth righteous thoughts to stop the persecution.
