A Dafa practitioner named Zhang Wenfu was arrested on January 19, 2002. He was kept at Pulandian Detention Centre for 50 days and was forced to perform heavy labour. Prisoners struck his face with the soles of his shoes. On March 8, he was sent to the 5th division of the Dalian Forced Labour Camp. He was put under strict supervision for over 40 days. Zhang was not allowed to wash his face or brush his teeth, and they continued to force him to do heavy labour. On April 18, he was sent to the 8th division. Ten days later, he was surrounded and beaten by three team leaders, Li Xuezhong, Li Shaofu and Peng Dahua for going on a hunger strike. Li Xuezhong sealed Zhang Wenfu's mouth and eyes with tape. Inmate Chi Diandong, nicknamed "Scarface," also joined in the beating. Zhang Wenfu's two hands were handcuffed while team leader Peng Dahua beat his head with a rubber baton, kicked his face and stomped on his head. Li Xuezhong threatened to blind one of Mr. Zhang's eyes if he continued to practice. They stripped off Mr. Zhang's clothes, dragged him to the 3rd floor, handcuffed to a bed and beat him with a wooden board. They tortured him for half an hour. Then "Scarface" and others started to force-feed Zhang Wenfu with liquor [Note: practitioners do not drink alcohol]. They used chopsticks to poke inside his mouth, causing Zhang's mouth to bleed profusely. Mr. Zhang was then put into an isolated cell, handcuffed and forced to lie on a wooden board for a whole day. The team leaders then took turns trying to "transform" him. He was strictly supervised for 14 days and sent back to a regular cell on March 13.
On April 26, Dafa disciple Shen Huan was put under heavy supervision for refusing to perform labour. He was fixed to a bed [by rope or handcuffs] and allowed to get up only to have meals or go to the bathroom. They didn't allow him to wash his face, brush his teeth or change clothes. Currently there are over a dozen disciples being held under heavy supervision. The bed-boards had been removed so that the Dafa practitioners had to lie on the metal bars that formed the supporting structure of the bed.
Dafa practitioner Chu Zhizhen was held in a brainwashing class. A guard ordered a collaborator [a former Falun Gong practitioner who has gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] to beat him and forced him into the posture of "riding an airplane." [In this torture, the head is bent down until it cannot go down any farther, while the hands are pulled back behind the person and held up to the highest point. The hips have to point up. One is forced to hold this position for a long time. The body in this position looks like the shape of an airplane, which is how this torture is named.] At present, there are five Dafa disciples being held in the brainwashing class. They are only allowed to use the bathroom four times a day. They are forced to sit on chairs for the rest of the time and are tortured by the collaborators.
