Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Hubei and Jilin Provinces Died as a Result of the Persecution

Dai Kewu from Tonghua Iron and Steel Company in Jilin Province Died as a Result of the Persecution

Mr. Dai Kewu was born in 1950, and was an employee of the Tonghua Iron and Steel Company in Jilin Province. He was fortunate to learn Falun Gong in 1995, and benefited physically and mentally from the practice. He strictly lived by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

After the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Dai went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. He was arrested by the police in October 1999 and detained for several days. In March 2000, Mr. Dai was detained and then sentenced to one year of forced labour; and again sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2002. He suffered from torture by police officers and prisoners at the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp in Changsha. His whole body was swollen; he lost the capability of taking care of himself, and became critically ill. The police of the labour camp told his family to take him home, due to fear of having to take responsibility for his death.

After Mr. Dai's return home, the police continued to harass him many times. Personnel from the water heating section of the Tonghua Iron and Steel Company stopped issuing him his wages. Due to ongoing mental and physical abuse by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents, Dai Kewu had to be hospitalized many times. His health continued to get worse, and he died on December 31st, 2006.

Wei Meilan from Heze City, Shandong Province Died from Maltreatment

Ms. Wei Meilan, a practitioner in Shandong Province, was a teacher at Beicheng High School, Mudan District, Heze City before she retired. In 2005, she was put into a detention centre by police from the Mudan District's Domestic Security Section. Due to being tortured, she passed a massive amount of blood in her stool, and later had an operation to remove a rectal cancer, but she still did not recover. She died in 2006, not quite 60 years old.

Zhao Yuxia from Ziyang City, Sichuan Province Died from Torture in Brainwashing Centre

Ms. Zhao Yuxia, 52 years old, was a worker at the No. 4 Branch of the 431 Factory in Ziyang City, Sichuan Province. On May 9th, 2006, Ziyang City 610 Office¹ agents took her to the Erehu Brainwashing Centre in Yingjie Town, Ziyang City. They released her one month later. Zhao Yuxia was originally very healthy, but had a serious disease after her release. She died on May 1st, 2007.

Wang Shangdian from Guizhou Province Died from Torture in a Forced Labour Camp

Mr. Wang Shangdian, 60 years old, was a staff member at the Anshun City Motor Transport Company in Guizhou Province. He began to practise Falun Gong in 1996. In July 2004, he returned to his home town, Qinglong Township, Weicheng Town, Guiyang City, to visit family members of his younger brother, Wang Shangyou, who has been sentenced to three years of forced labour due to practising Falun Gong. Soon after he arrived at his brother's home, Mr. Wang was arrested by several officers from the Weicheng Police Station. He was taken to the Zhongba Forced Labour Camp in Guizhou and was incarcerated for one and a half years. He suffered enormous physical and mental torture, and eventually died at home on February 1st, 2009.
