On June 14, 2009, Falun Gong practitioners set up an information stand at a community festival in Lindenau, to introduce Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa), a cultivation practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Lindenau is the oldest community in the western part of Leipzig, a German city with a rich cultural heritage. After the collapse of the socialist East Germany, the unification of East and West Germany refreshed this ancient community.
During the second weekend in June each year, a whole day of celebration is held at the community center, Lindenau Markt. On this day, many local merchants and organisations take part by setting up stands, selling assorted snacks, and putting on various shows. The entire square is packed and bustles with excitement.
On June 14 2009, the square again became very busy. Falun Gong practitioners' information stand stood out in the crowd. Many people were attracted by the practice. Some stood to quietly watch the peaceful exercise demonstration. Others asked for leaflets and carefully read about Falun Gong. Having learned that this practice that follows Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is banned in China and hearing of the Chinese Communist Party's various atrocities against Falun Gong practitioners, people were invariably stunned and indignant. Many inquired about how to purchase Falun Gong books and how to learn the exercises.

Children are always very excited during festivals. From far away they saw the colourful paper lotus flowers at the practitioners' stand. One after another they ran over to ask how much they cost. When told that they were free, they all happily and carefully accepted the beautiful lotus flowers with attached bookmarks worded "Falun Dafa is good."

At the all-day Lindenau community festival, practitioners introduced Falun Dafa to the local residents. Many commented that it was wonderful to have Falun Gong practitioners in the local community!
