The Persecution of Ms. Guo Liguang from Jinzhou City

Ms. Guo Liguang is a Falun Gong practitioner from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. Last year, the police arrested her at home, and then tortured her before sending her to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.

At around 11:00 p.m. on March 26th, 2008, the police from the Nuerhe Police Station, the Taihe Branch of the Jinzhou City Public Security Bureau and the Criminal Team of the Domestic Security Division broke into her home. Ms. Guo and her child were the only ones at home, as her husband works in another city. The police ransacked the home, confiscated two mobile phones, a calendar, and mosquito-repellent incense. Then they arrested Ms. Guo and left her child at home alone.

Around midnight, Ms. Guo was sent to the Taihe Branch of the Jinzhou City Public Security Bureau. The police cuffed both her hands and feet to an iron chair¹. A police chief slapped Ms. Guo until she lost consciousness.

At around 6:00 p.m. on March 27th, 2008, Ms. Guo was sent to a detention centre. A month later, she was transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp by Xiao Guoqiang and several policemen. Authorities at the forced labour camp refused to admit Ms. Guo after she failed a physical examination. As a result, she was taken back to the detention centre, where she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. One day, guard Dai Wei summoned Ms. Guo to the office. Immediately after stepping into the office, prisoners Li Wenhui and Li Nan got up and physically assaulted her. Guard Dai Wei then pulled out clumps of Ms. Guo's hair and dragged her to the wash room. Several prisoners continued to beat Ms. Guo there. They used a shoe-brush to pry open Ms. Guo's mouth and caused her teeth to loosen. Since then, she has had difficulty eating.

Two months later, Ms. Guo was transferred to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp again.

Masanjia Forced Labour Camp is known for its brutality in "transforming²" practitioners. Every month, practitioners are forced to sign a Progress Report. Those who refuse to sign are tortured. On February 11th, 2009, Beijing practitioners Zhang Guozhen and Lu Lin refused to do slave labour. Therefore, guards from the 1st group of the 1st team, Zhang Guorong, Zhang Chunguang, Li Mingyu and Guan Lin, beat them. Then they stripped the practitioners, leaving only their underwear on. Ms. Zhang Guozhen was hung up for 25 consecutive hours and Lu Lin for 10 consecutive hours. As a result, both practitioners' hands feel numb and they have difficulty walking.

One night, guard Peng Tao got drunk and grabbed Ms. Zhang's clothes. Another guard who was also there said to him, "If you want to beat her, leave it until tomorrow." Peng then stopped.

To force practitioner Zhao Shuqin to sign a statement, guard Zhang Chunguang beat her and broke one of her arms. Guard Zhao Guorong also slapped her face continuously over 20 times.
