Bo Xilai, secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, is also former deputy secretary of the Liaoning Province Party Committee and former governor of Liaoning, former secretary of the Dalian Municipal Party Committee and former mayor of Dalian. Since July 20th, 1999, when Jiang Zemin's, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime started to persecute Falun Gong, Bo Xilai has directly controlled and directed the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Dalian City as well as Liaoning Province. Practitioners in this area have been persecuted brutally and inhumanly, and more intensely than in many other areas of China. Bo Xilai is one of the principle instigators of the persecution.
During his term in Dalian City, under his designation and direction, Dalian was one of the cities where Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted the most. At least 15 practitioners were persecuted to death. During his term as deputy secretary of the Liaoning Province Party Committee and former governor of Liaoning, Liaoning Province became one the provinces where Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted the most.
At the beginning of the persecution, Bo Xilai, then mayor of Dalian City, directed the persecution in person. Details are as follows:
On the evening of July 19th, 1999, policemen who had been plotting for a long time suddenly broke into homes of Falun Gong practitioners in Dalian City and other counties and districts, and carried out wide-scale arrests of practitioners. On the morning of July 20th, 1999, several thousand practitioners gathered in front of the Office of Appeal, asking them to release the practitioners arrested. Their appeal was peaceful, and they were mostly middle aged and senior women. They did not have any banners, and they were all standing at the side of the road, making room for pedestrians, waiting for the problems to be solved quietly and peacefully. Practitioners even picked up trash and cigarette butts left by policemen. They were hoping Mayor Bo would listen to their proposal and release the arrested practitioners. However, at that time, Bo Xilai was ordering the Public Security Bureau to persecute them fiercely "towards death." He called in many police to help.
As Bo ordered, at about 10 o'clock, many policemen came out from the Public Security Bureau, beating the unarmed Falun Gong practitioners. Some young men were beaten until they bled from the nose and mouth, some were injured all over, their clothes were torn, and their shoes were thrown away. A female practitioner, about 30 years old, wanted to stop the violence, but a policeman hit her neck from the back, and she passed out on to the ground immediately. Another person simply tried to explain the truth to the policemen, but was hit to the ground by a group of policemen suddenly, and his camera was trodden underfoot. They even would not let the seniors go. The seniors were pushed and shoved, and many fell to the ground.
Around 11:40am, under the supervision of many policemen, several Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and taken away a in police car. About five hundred practitioners were surrounded in the small square opposite to the city hall. Next to it is a grass field. Some Falun Gong practitioners sat there to do the exercises, facing the violence peacefully and rationally. Among them several women in their forties held Falun Gong books and read in a low voice. This behaviour irritated the violent nerves of the policemen. A vice director of the public security bureau named Wang, ran into a black Audi 100, license plate No. B-00051, the car of Bo Xilai. Bo told him that the practitioners were united and efficient and asked what to do. "You just beat them fiercely," Bo answered. "It doesn't matter if many of them die," he said, "The government will be responsible for it." After the event, Bo's driver said Bo paid close attention to what happened. He sat in the car and directed policemen to persecute the innocent people. About two or three o'clock in the afternoon, many Falun Gong practitioners were pushed into buses and were taken to police stations and schools. Some were even brought to a desolate mountain in Hongqi Town, abandoned there.
This reveals just one scene of the many crimes committed by Bo Xilai at the beginning of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong. Many more truths will be revealed in the future.
Bo Xilai has been sued in court by Falun Gong practitioners for murder, crimes against humanity and torture in over ten countries, including USA, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Russia, Australia, South Korea, Spain and Sweden. In 2007, Bo Xilai was found guilty of all charges by an Australian court, and became the highest CCP official found guilty by a court outside China.
