On May 13th, 2009, Mr. Jiang Heping, a Falun Gong practitioner in Guangan City, Sichuan Province, was reported for handing out Falun Gong flyers on the streets. He was arrested by the Longtai District government; his flyers were taken away, along with the 530 yuan1 he had on him. Without even a trial, he was jailed at the Guangan Detention Centre. For three months, personnel of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) used various forms of torture to reduce the once healthy Jiang Heping to a wounded, scarred man with severe head injuries.
Realizing that Jiang Heping was on the verge of death, CCP personnel were afraid of being held responsible and they sent him to a hospital. They told Jiang Heping's family to meet him there. Upon arriving to find his father clinging to life, Jiang Heping's son broke into uncontrollable sobs. Meanwhile, the persecutors had long left the scene. Now, Jiang Heping is unable to care for himself at home.
Since the CCP started the persecution of Falun Gong, and prior to this incident, Jiang Heping has been convicted once and jailed once. He has been tortured severely at the Deyang Jail and the Xinhua Jail of Mianyang City, Sichuan Province.
