After studying Master's recent article "Fa Teaching Given in Manhattan," I have come to realize that I didn't treat my environment as a place for true cultivation. Whenever a problem surfaced, whether it be in the workplace or at home, I always rushed to resolve it or quickly finish the job. Although I knew that everything I encountered carried factors to remove my attachment, I didn't grasp the opportunity to improve my Xinxing (heart and mind nature, character). Instead, I just wanted to eliminate the trouble at hand as soon as possible, so I could study the Fa or do the three things (study the Fa, clarify the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong and send forth righteous thoughts).
In fact, including our jobs, anything we do or experience is for the sake of our cultivation and is the form of our cultivation. Yet, I had separated my work life from cultivation. I had only regarded the time I spent at home studying the Fa, sending forth righteous thoughts and making truth clarification materials as cultivation. Master has discussed this issue with practitioners on various occasions, but I had just began to understand the true nature of our cultivation environment.
In the past, I always complained. Weren't the complaints all caused by my own attachments? Indeed, my enlightenment quality was rather poor.
October 1, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) "National Day" celebration is approaching, and my workplace has organized a choir practice. Standing there, I sent forth righteous thoughts silently and felt a strong energy field during which I developed true compassion for the people surrounding me. While riding a bus, I saw CCP flags everywhere and the inside of the bus was full of CCP-red. I thought that it was a good opportunity to eliminate the evil spirit of the CCP as well. Wherever I am, it's "my cultivation environment," and I should do well the things that I am supposed to do as a practitioner.
This is my experience and current understanding. Please kindly point out anything inappropriate.
