Ms. Liu Ronghua was arrested on the afternoon of September, 23rd, 2009. She is being detained in Yaojia Detention Centre. Those in charge didn't allow her family to visit her.
Officers from Qingniwa Bridge Police Station in the Zhongshan District of Dalian City found her ex-husband and acquired some useful information and "evidence" on Ms. Liu from him, planning to further persecute her.
Ms. Liu is a lecturer and well-respected in the field of education in Dalian City. Her articles have been published in the Chinese Encyclopaedia. She was very strict with herself, especially in respect to spending money on herself. Because she lost her job due to the persecution and was forced to divorce her husband, she has relied on the rent of the house that her ex-husband left her, and has never borrowed money to survive.
Liu Ronghua's elderly father is infirm and in poor health. His family was afraid that this bad news would have a negative impact on his health, so they didn't tell him about his daughter being persecuted. Ms. Liu's nearly 80-year-old mother needed to take three different shuttle buses to reach the Qingniwa Police Station from her home, which is more than 100 miles away. She went there to submit a request for her daughter's release. However, none of the employees or officers at the police station gave her any information about her daughter.
