Mr. Liu Cheng is a practitioner from Yi County, Liaoning Province. He has been imprisoned as a forced labourer three times. During his three imprisonments, he suffered numerous tortures, such as brutal beatings, hung up by hand cuffs, sleep deprivation, electric shocks, iron chair, "buckle poking soft ribs", "scratching muscle seam", "gripping testicle", "five horses splitting a body" (, "lasting stretching", "hang thousand weight at waist", etc..

Here is Mr. Liu's statement about his three imprisonments:

My name is Liu Cheng. I am a practitioner from Houni Village, Qianyang Township, Yi County, Liaoning Province.

On October 11th, 2000, I went to Beijing. I wanted to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong, but I was arrested and beaten by the police before I had a chance to express myself. Later I was transferred back to the Yi County Detention Centre. After more than a month there, I was taken to the Jinzhou Forced Labour Camp, which was notorious for its harshness towards practitioners. I was imprisoned at the camp for three years. During my imprisonment, because I did not give up my beliefs, I was frequently tortured by guards Ma Yong, Bai Jinlong, Li Shongtao, Zhang Chunfeng, Yang Tinglun, Chang Jiabin, Feng Zibin, Han Jianjun, Han Lihua. They brutally beat me, deprived me of sleep, shocked me using electric batons, and my burned my abdomen.

My second imprisonment began at midnight on July 4th, 2004. I was at home. Suddenly officers from the Yi County Police Department Domestic Security Division and the Qianyang Township Police Station broke into and searched my home and took me to the Yi County Detention Centre. At the center, guards beat me. Fifteen days later, on July 20, they imprisoned me at the Jinzhou Forced Labour Camp. At the camp, I suffered torture much more brutal than the first time I was there.

I refused to wear inmate clothing. Guards told criminals to force me to sit on a iron chair1 which had only an iron rod to support the sitter, cuffed and fastened my hands and feet. Soon, I experienced extreme pain throughout my buttocks, legs, and back. The pain penetrated my bones and my heart, and I felt like I would rather die. They subjected me to this torture for four days.

Four days later, guard Li Shongtao and others forced me to sit in lotus position, then tied my legs, handcuffed my hands behind my back, placed a helmet on my head, turned on audio which slandered Falun Gong. At the same time, they shocked my face and neck using electric batons.

To coerce me to reform (forcibly renounce Falun Gong), guards handcuffed my hands to each side of a bed, told criminals Chen Changbin, Wang Tao, Li Huanyu, Li Feng, Yin Mingde, Sun Guoze to take turns beating me. They punched my chest and hips, beat my head and face using the bottom of their shoes, beat my knees, ankles, and back with heavy mops. Meanwhile, guards shocked my face and neck with electric batons. Furthermore, guard Liu Xinjiang told criminals to handcuff me to a heating pipe, punched my chest, and beat me with sticks. They poked belt buckles between my ribs, rubbing at the connection between the ribs and the muscles, and clamped my testicles.

After suffering these tortures, I lost the ability to move my body for fifteen days, and my legs have experienced pain, numbness, and no feeling since then.

The third imprisonment came after 4:00a.m. on June 3rd, 2008. Officers from the Yi County Police Department Domestic Security Division and the Qianyang Township Police Station arrested and detained me at the Jinzhou Detention Centre. On June 12th, I was sentenced to eighteen months of forced labour, and was imprisoned at the Jinzhou Forced Labour Camp.

During my five months imprisonment at the Jinzhou Forced Labour Camp, guards in the second prison section subjected me to sitting on a tiny bench, brutal beatings, and different forms of standing punishments. Sometimes, I was hung up, or bent over at my waist while my hands were cuffed behind my back. They kept me in such a position for several hours. On their first visit, my family saw me enter on crutches, yet still needing the assistance of others.

Five months later, I was transferred to the third prison section, first prison camp, Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City. The Masanjia Forced Labour Camp is widely known for its harsh treatment of practitioners. The third prison section of first prison camp imprisoned male practitioners from around the county. Various tortures happened there. Guards tried to coerce me to swear, scold Falun Gong, and sign a statement to show my approval. I did not obey. They fastened me to an iron bed and held my mouth open with a mouth opener for a long time. They force-fed me unknown drugs three or four times. They hung me up using handcuffs and left me there for a long time. They tied my legs to an iron bed, hung my legs, and hung heavy weights around my waist. They subjected me to "five horses splitting a body", stretching my limbs for a long time. Repeatedly, they used many electric batons and simultaneously shocked me. They forced me to work overtime as a slave .
