Persecution at Xinxiang Women's Prison in Henan Province

Xinxiang Women's Prison in Henan Province, also called Henan Province No. 5 Prison, is known for its harsh persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Warden Zhang Peibin was transferred from Xinyang Prison to this prison in 2007. He intensified the persecution, enforced hard labour, and placed firm practitioners in solitary confinement. Solitary was a very small room with only a concrete bed to sit on during the day. In the winter, the cold wind blew in, and some began to hallucinate. The guards only gave them a small bun for meals. The guards persecuted numerous practitioners this way.

The guards also instigated other inmates to monitor and physically abuse practitioners. A 50-year-old female practitioner from the Xuchang area was beaten (her face was slapped and hair was pulled) by 40-year-old inmate Yang Fang just because she called out, "Falun Gong is good!"

The guards also broadcast radio programming that slandered Falun Gong and poisoned people's minds. On holidays, inmates were forced to sing songs to eulogise the CCP, participate in a flag raising ceremony, and make vows in front of the flag. Practitioner Ms. Zhao Xilian from Zhengzhou refused to participate, so she was held in solitary confinement. Like many other imprisoned practitioners, her black hair soon turned completely white. The guards limited, monitored, and even cancelled family visits in order to cover up their crimes.

Others practitioners were subjected to slave labour. They were forced to work long hours and had limited use of the toilet and sink, and everyone was closely monitored. During the Chinese New Year, they were forced to work days without sleeping. Guards instigate other inmates to monitor and abuse practitioners. The guards also periodically search for Falun Gong related materials.

Most of the practitioners held there are elderly. The oldest is 80 years old. Practitioner Ms. Li Zhifen is over 70. She was very healthy, but after several days of persecution, she became delirious, could not sleep at night, and her black hair turned white. Practitioners are forced to do slave labour and must finish their work assignments.

Ms. Zhang Chunhua has been persecuted for five years. Ms. Yang Xiuling has been persecuted for over three years. Although the guards deprive them of sleep and cleanliness and force them to do filthy jobs, the practitioners remain firm in their belief.

The health of numerous practitioners has deteriorated due to the brutal persecution. Some of them are no longer able to take care of themselves and have become incontinent.

We appeal to all just people overseas to pay attention to the evil crimes committed in China, extend your help, and let us together stop the persecution.
