A visitor from mainland China, Miss Jiang, was deeply moved by Shen Yun Performing Arts playing at Alsok Hall in Hiroshima, Japan on Friday evening, March 12th, 2010.
Miss Jiang, a college sophomore, said that she was fortunate in having her visa issued before the show. Otherwise she would probably never have seen the show, as it has yet to come to mainland China.
"I feel great after seeing Shen Yun for the first time. It's really amazing," she said after watching the New York-based show. "The content Shen Yun expresses is very rich. I think every single dance was beautiful.
"I have never seen anything like this in China. The male and female dancers performed with such style that the movements were not just movements, they held deeper meaning."
She said that the unique backdrops blended very well with the stage. "They were just fantastic together - the whole scene was surreal. The combination of the Western and Chinese instruments in the orchestra was just magical. It was my first time to hear such kind of music."
Miss Jiang mentioned that the two programmes that left her with the deepest impression were the stories of courage in modern China, namely the ones involving the persecution of the spiritual discipline Falun Gong.
"After watching the scene with the Chinese Communist Party persecuting Falun Gong, I was touched to the point of tears [by the spirit of the Falun Gong practitioners.]"
Miss Jiang said that she would like to see the show again when she gets a chance.
"The show is helpful toward humanity. Shen Yun has allowed me to recognise authentic beauty and learn truth that I cannot find in today's China."
