Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Chunhong is imprisoned at the Tieling City Detention Centre. Over the past ten years of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party, her family has been repeatedly harassed. Her father and sister were repeatedly tortured under the persecution, which resulted in her sister suffering from a mental disorder.

On February 6th, 2010, Jiao Bin and other officers from the Kaiyuan City Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Li for talking about Falun Gong to passers-by in a neighbourhood in Kaiyuan City. That night, the officers searched Ms. Li's apartment. In front of Ms. Li and her father, Mr. Li Zhongbin, the officers seized their notebook computer, more than one hundred yuan1 in cash, their bank cards, water and electric bills, as well as their Falun Gong printouts. They forced the family to pay another 100 yuan in cash, calling it a fee for a physical exam.

The following day, Mr. Li went to the Kaiyuan City Police Department to appeal for the release of his daughter, and was told that she was taken to the Tieling City Detention City. He went to the detention centre, but he was turned away.

In October 1999, Mr. Li and Ms. Li Chunlan, his other daughter, were subjected to a year of forced labour. Ms. Li was imprisoned at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, where she suffered electric shocks to her mouth, and brutal beatings. Mr. Li was forced to do hard labour at the Tieling City Forced Labour Camp.

In October 2002, Mr. Li was arrested for the second time. He was tortured to the point of being emaciated. One of his front incisors was knocked out during one beating. He suffered two broken ribs, as well as injuries to his stomach and intestines. Afterward, he suffered incontinence and had no feeling in his legs. He was released in April 2004 only because he was in critical condition. Mr. Li still has not fully recovered.

One day at the end of October 2006, officer Zhao Pofeng from the Hongqi Police Station in Qinghe District, Tieling City snuck into Mr. Li's home through the back door. He left after Ms. Li Chunlan saw him and questioned him. Two days later, Lan Wen, director of the Hongqi Police Station, and half a dozen officers forced their way into Mr. Li's home without a warrant. The officers ransacked their home, seized around 600 yuan in cash, and arrested Mr. Li and Ms. Li. This was the third arrest for the father and daughter. Then at night, police interrogated both of them. The officers subjected Ms. Li to more than an hour of electric shock. As a result, Ms. Li's face and mouth were burned and distorted. They then locked her into a metal cage. After being detained at the Kaiyuan City Detention Centre for 40 days, Ms. Li was imprisoned at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City. Mr. Li was also tortured after his arrest.

The torture that Ms. Li suffered in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp are largely unknown because when she was released at the end of July 2008, she suffered a loss of speech and normal mental functions (refer to http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2009/10/31/111997.html).

After Ms. Li Chunlan's release, to avoid further harassment, Mr. Li moved the family from Tieling City to an apartment in Kaiyuan City.

After Ms. Li Chunhong's arrest this year, the police threatened the apartment owner with closing down the building if he did not break the lease. Thus, just before the Chinese New Year, the family became homeless.
