I was imprisoned in a detention centre for six months. On my first night, I came to realize that there were gaps in my cultivation, which had caused this tribulation. I decided that I must cultivate well and not allow the old forces to ever test me again. Of course, since I had landed in detention, I was going to compassionately deal with whatever I encountered and talk about Falun Gong.
I tried to be nice to every inmate and did not take notice of why they were there so that I could tell them about the goodness of Falun Dafa. Gradually, I gained their confidence. Then they started to tell me about their families, which gave me the opportunity to tell them about how to be a good person, how to respect others, and about the greatness of Falun Dafa.
Eventually the head of the inmates, as well as several others, wanted me to teach them how to practice Falun Gong, so I talked about Falun Gong to a group as well as with individuals. I taught them the exercises and the verses that are recited once right before each of the exercises. I wrote down whatever I could remember about Hong Yin and Essentials For Further Advancement so they could read it. Some learned exercises one to four very fast. Some could do the full lotus meditation very well, and some could recite Lunyu. When I was about to be released, I reminded them to always remember that "Falun Dafa is good," no matter what situation or tribulation they faced.
In 1996 I was fortunate to learn Falun Dafa. In 1999 when the persecution of Falun Gong started, my boss came to talk with me. I used every opportunity to clarify the facts about Falun Dafa to my colleagues. Thus, when dealing with outside interference, they stood up for me.
After I was arrested, the local 610 Office and my supervisor visited me in the detention centre. They asked me to renounce Falun Gong. I said, "My heart is bleeding for many of my countrymen and some of my fellow practitioners because, against their will and sometimes while they were still alive, their organs were harvested and used for transplants. So many families have been destroyed. I was using my spare time to make DVDs for those who are willing to hear the facts about Falun Gong. I want to regain my freedom."
During my detention, as I was dragged through the local public security, prosecutors, and courts, I witnessed the Chinese Communist regime's minions utilizing political and monetary incentives to trample human morality and conscience. They turned good people into accomplices of evil. They were the ones who were really harmed. I used every opportunity to touch their conscience and remove any excuse or opportunity to persecute me, so that I couldn't feel sorry for anyone I came across.
A trial date was set. The court-appointed attorney came to see me the day before the trial. Of course, I wouldn't miss this valuable opportunity to speak up for Falun Gong. I told the attorney why I must practice Falun Gong and why I was handing out DVDs. She asked, "Why were you guys involved in that 'self-immolation?'" She was an attorney and yet she didn't know the truth about that fabricated incident. I thought that we must not have done enough to tell the facts about Falun Gong. After I told her the truth about the "self-immolation," she asked no further questions. In the courtroom, she seemed to do her best to argue in my favour.
I calmly stood there facing the court, not thinking about sentencing, but thinking about how to tell all present about Falun Gong. Smilingly, I nodded to them and said, "Hello," but they were lowering their heads. It seemed that they knew that they were doing something against their conscience.
The following day, the chief officer of the court and my boss came to the detention centre to fetch me. The officer asked why I looked happy. I told him that I had nothing to be ashamed of. I actually was thinking about Falun Dafa but didn't bring that up. He shook my hand with a grin and added that I should be careful about my safety in the future.
After returning home, and because of the special nature of my workplace, I knew that my boss was under lot of pressure from his boss, so I quit my job. My colleagues helped me find another job, and I landed a lot of interviews. I told all the interviewers that I practice Falun Gong and that I had been detained twice. They all said that they could understand the situation and that this was my personal issue, my freedom of belief. Every time I changed jobs again, I had another opportunity to talk about Falun Gong.
At every job, whether it was only for a few months or longer, I always did my best. In dealing with all my new colleagues, I always told them all I knew, and at the same time I told them about the great virtue of Falun Dafa and about the persecution of its practitioners.
Our revered Teacher wants us to cultivate in everyday people's environment. This is for a very profound reason, and I will treasure every minute of it.
