On Sunday April 25th, 2010, Falun Gong practitioners in the St. Louis, Missouri, area participated in the annual Earth Day event in Forest Park. As in previous years, they promoted Falun Dafa and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
The purpose of Earth Day is to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment and to educate people about protecting the Earth. Many people came to the park on Sunday. The Falun Gong exercise demonstration near the booth attracted many passersby. Some of them had not heard about Falun Gong before, and many expressed their interest in learning the exercises.
The booth also displayed pictures exposing the Chinese Communist Party's brutal persecution of Falun Gong. When people learned about the atrocities in China, many signed a petition calling for an end to the persecution.
A woman came up to the booth to talk to the practitioners. She said that she has been to the Earth Day event for many years and is supportive of Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful endeavours to end the persecution. She said that she will continue to stay abreast of the efforts to end the persecution, and she looked forward to seeing the practitioners again next year.
A Taiwanese family was happy to see Falun Gong at the Earth Day event. The mother said that a friend had recommended Falun Gong to them. She asked for the schedule for the free exercise classes and said that she and her daughter wanted to learn the exercises.
Several Chinese students came over to the booth and talked to the practitioners. They said that they realised that the propaganda in China about Falun Gong was not true shortly after they came to America and had access to unfiltered information.
During the one-day event, many people learned of the beauty of Falun Dafa, and a number of them said that they planned to join the weekend group exercise practice in the park.
