Nurse Ms. Liang Xiulan Sentenced to an Eight-Year Prison Term

On May 4th, 2010, Ms. Liang Xiulan, a practitioner from Qian'an City, Hebei Province, was taken to the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison.

An attorney who had seen her in the detention centre said, "Although I am not related to her, I couldn't bear to look at her because she had been tortured in the detention centre. She looked so pitiful."

During the past year, police officers from the Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Liang Xiulan three times. She was brutal tortured and near death.

When she was arrested in May 2008, several police officers, including Pu Yonglai and Ha Fulong, used several electric batons to shock her breasts and private parts.

Around April 1st, 2009, Ms. Liang was arrested again and detained in the Qian'an City Detention Centre. Shortly after, she was taken to a brainwashing centre.

On September 11th, 2009, she was arrested again by officers from the Qian'an City Domestic Security Division.

On December 3rd, 2009, police and the court agreed to sentence Ms. Liang to an eight-year prison term.
