At 9:30 a.m. on June 18th, in the opening ceremony of the event, a Falun Gong representative read out a letter of appreciation to the BRC and UNHCR for the help and support given to Falun Gong practitioners who left China to avoid the Chinese Communist Party's brutal persecution. After the performance started, Falun Gong practitioners in golden costumes went to the stage and unfurled a banner with the words "Falun Dafa is great," winning applause from the audience.
The practitioners sang songs and performed Chinese music on the two-stringed erhu. They also demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises. Many audience members took photos and offered warm applause. A practitioner introduced Falun Dafa in English to refugees from many countries.
During the event, practitioners introduced Falun Gong and its guiding principle, Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, to refuges from China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, North Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, and Somalia.
