His captors locked him in the Zhangjiatun Brainwashing Centre for one month. Ms. Gao Fen is a 37-year-old practitioner in Jiulong Town, Jiaozhou City. When she was visiting a friend in June 2000, police officers arrived at 10:00 p.m. and pounded on the door. A few of the officers came in over the wall, forcibly entered the home, and searched the place thoroughly. They bundled Ms. Gao into the police van, took her to the Fuan Police Station, and detained her in a metal cage. The police deprived her of food, water, and access to a toilet. Jiulong Town officials sent Ms. Gao to the Jiaozhou City Mental Hospital after seven days of detention.
Jiaozhou City Mental Hospital is a three-story building. Falun Gong practitioners were kept on all three stories. Doctors forced Ms. Gao to take medicine immediately upon her arrival. As a result, she felt dizzy constantly and had purple-black clots during her menstrual period. When she refused to take the medicine, the doctor ordered several strong patients to hold her down and attempted to force-feed her the medicine. When Ms. Gao told them not to, the doctors said they had no choice since doing this was a "political responsibility."

Liu Zuojin
Wang Huansheng, former Jiulong Town Police Station head who died from cancer
Mr. Xiao Zhiduan, 44 years old, was a former Jiaozhou City Court presiding judge. He began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. On March 2nd, 2000, he was arrested by Fuan Police Station officials in Jiaozhou City on March 2nd, 2000, for publicly practising the Falun Gong exercises. Jiaozhou 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents extorted 3,000 yuan from him and sent him back to his workplace for monitoring.
Mr. Xiao went to Beijing to appeal for justice, but he was arrested by Fuan police on November 3rd, 2000. In an escape attempt, he jumped from the police headquarters' second story and sustained a lumbar vertebral fracture. Police sent him back to his workplace. Court head Zhu Chenli and former court head Wang Fulin (since retired) detained Mr. Xiao for more than ten days and covertly sent him to the Jiaozhou Mental Hospital and informed the family after the fact.
Doctors in the Jiaozhou Mental Hospital forced Mr. Xiao to take large amount of nerve-damaging drugs. In addition, No. 2 Mental Division head Jiang Dengfa beat him, tied him up on a table, and shocked him with high voltage electric batons. The captors also inserted needles in the practitioner's hukou acupuncture point. When the electric current goes through, the victim immediately experiences numbness in both arms. The severe pain goes to the heart, until the victim loses consciousness. The electric batons are then turned off, and the victim regains consciousness. The process is repeated many times. When the electricity goes through, the victims cannot help crying out in pain.
Mr. Xiao went on a protest hunger strike. The guards then force-fed him. He was tied to a bed, with all four limbs immobilised. A head nurse surnamed Wang took a long tube and inserted it through his nose, deep into his stomach. To increase the pain, the head nurse intentionally pulled and pushed the tube back and forth. The pain made his stomach react strongly. Mr. Xiao was sent to the Zhangjiatun Brainwashing Centre close to the 2001 Chinese New Year. 610 Office head Liu Xuedong ordered guards to handcuff him close to the bed and beat him brutally.

Following the 610 Office's orders, her workplace officials sent Ms. Zhang to the Jiaozhou Mental Hospital, where she was ruthlessly abused.
The practitioner couple Zhou Caixia and Liu Fuxi were arrested and sent to the Jiaozhou Mental Hospital. Zhou Caixia went on a hunger strike to protest for 12 days and took the opportunity to successfully escape from the mental hospital. The couple is currently in exile to avoid further persecution.

Ms. Qiu Yuane was arrested at a railway station on her way to Beijing and sent to the Jiaozhou Mental Hospital. To compel Ms. Qiu to take medicine, Liu Yanxi ordered a nurse to force open her mouth with chopsticks and a screwdriver. After this happened many times, Ms. Qiu's mouth was bruised and bleeding. Some of her teeth were broken. The captors would not let her family pick her up until she had been tortured to the point of dementia. Ms. Qiu still has a mental disorder resulting from the abuse she experienced.
People responsible: Liu Zuojin, Liu Yanxi, and Liu Bingwen.
Ms. Tan Jianhua, 45 years old, went to Beijing to appeal on September 11th, 1999. After being arrested and taken back to her town, 610 Office agents placed her in the Jiaozhou Mental Hospital. Eight male nurses worked together to inject her with toxic substances with a big syringe that was normally used for glucose injections. Ms. Tan immediately felt her internal organs malfunctioning and her heart beat accelerating to the extreme. Her tongue and lips trembled, and she had a sensation as if her heart, lungs, and liver would separate from her body. She felt extremely dizzy, as if her head would split open. She wanted to urinate but there was no urine; she wanted to vomit, but nothing came out. Ms. Tan could not tolerate this and kept crawling and rolling on the ground. However, she did not die and went outside the next morning to do the Falun Gong exercises. When doing individual cell checks, the guard kept asking if Ms. Tan was doing the exercises. When the answer was yes, she was electrically shocked, forcibly injected with higher doses of medicine that increased from 2 tablets to 10 tablets. The nurse monitored her three times a day, to make sure she took the medicine. Each time, they ordered Ms. Tan to open her mouth and checked to see if the tablets were under her tongue. The second month of such abuse found Ms. Tan trembling; she could not hold her bowl or chopsticks, her face was purple, and she had heart pain and headaches. Her entire body turned purple, and her joints hurt. She had astigmatism and could not see clearly. Her menstrual period stopped. She became physically misshapen. She could no longer move her eyelids and experienced a muddled mind and memory loss and showed signs of dementia.

He and village party head Dong Fenggang took Mr. Wang Weihe's daughter, Ms. Wang Ping, to a room next door, closed the door, and beat her. The persecutors then took the family to the township police station and detained them in separate rooms. Wang Xuehao beat Mr. Wang Weihe, and police station head Zhou Wei beat Ms. Wang Ping. Wang Xuehao ordered Mr. Wang Weihe to sit on the floor, with both legs straight and arms pointing straight forward. He then beat Mr. Wang Weihe brutally, until Mr. Wang lost consciousness. Zhou Wei (who has already received retribution and died at a young age) ordered Ms. Wang Ping to stand with both legs bent. He then used a metal rod to beat every joint in her body. Her joints swelled and hurt. Village party head Dong Fenggang became drunk on wine and beat Mr. Wang Weihe again. He kicked Mr. Wang in the ribs with his boots until the practitioner once again lost consciousness. Mr. Wang was in agony could not eat and had difficulty breathing because of the two severe beatings. Seven days later he was taken to the police station and continued to be detained there. Three months later he and his wife were sent to a mental hospital for even more ruthless abuse and mistreatment.
Mr. Wang was injected with medicine upon arrival and was detained with his wife on the first floor. Their daughter was on the third floor. When doctor Yang Chengchao saw Mr. Wang studying Falun Gong lectures, he kicked him to the floor and continued to kick him back and forth. The doctor then pulled Mr. Wang by the leg to the lobby and then dragged back to the room. Then he tied up Mr. Wang spread-eagle in a bed. After beating him for a while, he injected Mr. Wang with unknown substances. He injected Mr. Wang seven times that evening and tortured him for 11 hours. He did not let Mr. Wang go until it was his time to go off duty. Mr. Wang has since been unable to take care of himself. Yang Chengchao beat him three times within several days.
