The Personal Statement of Ms. Li Jiangping from Shahe City, Hebei Province Regarding the Persecution She Is Enduring

I live in Shahe City, Hebei Province, and I feel so fortunate and blessed that I started to practise Falun Gong. Before I was introduced to Falun Gong in 1997, I had very poor health and was narrow-minded; after practising Falun Gong, I disciplined myself according to the requirements and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Within just a few months, I became broad-minded and healthy.

On December 15th, 2009, Jia Jianchao from the Domestic Security Division of the Shahe City Police Department broke into my home with four policemen, ransacked through my house and took away the precious Falun Gong book Zhuan Falun. They demanded that I go to the police department with them, saying that they just needed to ask several questions. Thinking that I practised Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance with openness and dignity, I went with them. After arriving at the police department, Jia Jianchao asked several questions and then hurried to show me some so-called materials, telling me, "Take a look. It doesn't matter whether you sign on it or not, I will send you to prison anyway." I said, "I'm a good person; there is nothing wrong with practising Falun Gong and following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I won't go to prison." When they tried to force me into the car, I held onto the door frame, refusing to get in the car. However, Jia Jianchao forcibly pushed me through the car door, using his fists to push me into the car. Seeing that that my head and body was repeatedly being slammed into the car's door, Jia Jianchao said, "If the car door is dented or damaged, we will make your husband pay ten thousand yuan¹ as compensation." Due to his fierce beating I became very dizzy. This is how they forcibly took me to the prison.

When I was filling out a physical examination form, I told prison doctors that I felt dizzy due to Jia Jianchao's beating. However, the doctors told me that if they had to check me and send me to hospital, I would have to pay for all the fees.

I then was detained in prison for 29 days, during which time my chest was quite painful for 15 days but no one took care of it. In the first two days in prison, my chest was in so much pain that I couldn't bear to hold up a quilt. Jia Jianchao even came to the prison to threaten me that he would send me to a forced labour camp. While detained in prison, I had to work from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in order to finish the labour tasks. Except for mealtime, we had to keep working. Sometimes, I had to work for an extra hour longer at night. The persecution has tremendously damaged my family and me both physically and mentally.
