At around 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. on August 11th, 2010, a male Falun Gong practitioner, about 40 years old, was distributing flyers about Falun Gong in Wushi Village, Liaoyuan Town, Puning City, Guangdong Province. When security guards in the village found out what he was doing, they picked him up and took him to the village police station.

Inside the police station, the practitioner tried to explain the facts about Falun Gong to the guards, telling them, "We practitioners believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and we are good people." They didn't listen, and five or six of them punched and kicked him, and hit him with a steel pipe. They appeared to have lost their senses and were focused on beating him to death. Whenever the practitioner lost consciousness, they used fire to burn his legs and a hot wire to burn his ears to see whether he was dead or not.

Whenever the practitioner regained consciousness, the guards resumed beating him. His clothes were torn, there were wounds all over his body, and his feet were swollen. He was barely alive. The guards used handcuffs to hang him from the steel bars of a window and demanded that he tell them where he came from, but he refused. The guards kept the practitioner hanging from the window until about 10:30 p.m. The practitioner didn't have anything eat the whole day and was extremely weak. In order to avoid shouldering any responsibility for his condition, the guards let him go.

Except for his trousers, he had nothing to wear as he tried to walk home in his bare feet. We found him lying on his bed, severely injured. There were more than 50 dark blue circles on his body where he had been poked with the steel pipe. He was in critical condition.

The team of security guards in the Wushi Village was formed only recently and is made up of young men in their twenties. The team is under the direction of Zhuang Chi, a 50-year-old man from Shixiatu Village.
