Dozens of Practitioners Arrested in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province

The Cangzhou City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) launched a massive harassment of Falun Gong practitioners on August 25th, 2010 in five cities and eight counties in the Cangzhou region. Dozens of practitioners were arrested.

1. Cangzhou City

Seventeen practitioners in Cangzhou were harassed and many were arrested. Thirteen of the seventeen were arrested and their homes were searched. Ms. Zhang Hong, Mr. Hu Jinhua, Mr. Meng Jinrun, Ms. Xia Li, Mr. Xing Huansheng, and Ms. Dou are being detained at the Cangzhou Detention Centre. The others were released.

Around 8:00 p.m. on August 25th, officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Xinhua Police Department in Cangzhou arrested Mr. Hu Jinhua, Mr. Yang Linye, Ms. Zhang Hong, Ms. Wang Jinling and her husband, and Mr. Xing and his wife.

The same day, officers Tang Guoli, Li Yi and others from the Yunhe District Police Department harassed Ms. Liu Fang and Mr. Song Junpeng. Around 10:00 a.m. on August 26th, the officers harassed Mr. Song again.

2. Renqiu City

The Renqiu Police Department and Domestic Security Division co-directed, and had the five criminal divisions of the Chengqu Police Department, the Xinhualu Police Station, the Chuan Police Station, and Internet control division simultaneously take action around 10:00 p.m. on August 25th. The police arrested five practitioners, including Ms. Liu Jinhui, Ms. Yin Xiaoyan, and Ms. Feng Suxia. The officers used the same tactic--deceiving the practitioners into opening their doors--then arrested them.

At almost the same time, officers from the Renqiu Police Department, Domestic Security Division, and the Chengqu Police Department surrounded Ms. Liu Yindi's home in Huibokou Village. The officers entered her courtyard and searched the place. When they did not find anyone and nothing of interest to them, they went to her mother's home in Bianguan. They did not find Ms. Liu there, either. But they harassed her mother, who was old and very sick. They then went to the Renqiu Kindergarten where they arrested Ms. Liu. She was released the second day after her family's protests.

3. Mengchun County

Around 10:30 p.m. on August 25th, officer Liu Haijun and others from the Mengchun County Police Department, as well as the Songzhuang Township Police Station arrested Ms. Tang Yu'e at home, searched her house, and seized her cell phone, MP3 player, and other property. They interrogated her in the Mengchun County Police Department, and tried to force her to sign a prepared document stating she would give up Falun Gong practice. Ms. Tang was finally released but had to flee her home to avoid further harassment. Officers are searching for her and pressing her family for her return.

4. Huanghua City

Ms. Tian Xiufen returned home on the afternoon of August 24th after one year of forced labour in the Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp. Around 7:00 p.m. on August 25th, several plainclothes officers harassed Ms. Tian at home.

Around 8:00 p.m. on August 25th, officer Cao and about twenty officers from the Huanghua Domestic Security Division went to Mr. Fan Yong's home to arrest him. They did not succeed because Mr. Fan was out. They searched his home and seized Falun Gong printouts.

In the early morning of August 26th, officers from the Huanghua Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Wang Hui, and detained her at a detention centre. It is speculated that she will be subjected to 18 months of forced labour.

5. Botou City

Around 9:00 p.m. on August 25th, the Botou Police Department dispatched five police cars, and officers from the Hedong Police Station as well as the Domestic Security Division, to Ms. Gao Zhiying's factory. They did not find Ms. Gao there. Then they went to her home, and arrested her and her husband. They searched her home and typed documents of the process. They tried but failed to arrest her son and daughter-in-law.

The officers interrogated Ms. Gao but she refused to co-operate. The officers then ordered her husband to take notes and sign them. He, too, refused, "I am an ordinary person. I do not do bad things. Why should I sign anything?" He was released after 11:00 p.m.

At almost the same time, officers from the Botou Police Department and the Wenmiao Town Police Station, including Feng Suguo, director of the police station, arrested four practitioners in Guogangzi Village, Wenmiao Town. Among those arrested were Ms. Zhao Suxiang, Mr. Qiu Zhenmei, and Mr. Wang Fenghai. They are imprisoned at the Duan Zhuang Detention Centre. Officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Botou Police Station stated that each person had to pay 20,000 yuan¹ before being released.

6. Cang County

In the evening of August 25th, Pang Bingshan, deputy director of the Cang County Police Department; Zhou Linhua, director of the Cang County Domestic Security Division; Yan Xiuwei, political instructor of the Cang County Domestic Security Division; Li Fuge, director of the Litianmu Township Police Station; and other officers arrested Mr. Liang Mowen, Mr. Bao Yumao, and Mr. Liang Moyuan in Beige Village. The practitioners are imprisoned at the Cang County Detention Centre. Police searched Mr. Liang Mowen's home, and seized his computer, mobile phone and other property.

7. Xian County

On the night of August 25th, Xian County police arrested a number of practitioners including Mr. Wang Fuqiang and his son Wang Xuejian; Mr. Li Heping; Mr. Lu Wanjie; Ms. Peng Yuming; and Ms. Gao Wenmi and her husband Mr. Wang Yongjian.

Around 9:00 p.m., a dozen officers entered the courtyard of Mr. Lu Wanjie's home, and arrested him without a warrant.

Around 2:00 a.m. on August 26th in Linhe Township, officers arrested Mr. Wang Yongjian and his wife Ms. Gao Wenmi at their home without a warrant, and searched the home. They left the couple's two young children and Mr. Wang's uncle, who has a mental illness, at home without supervision.

The whereabouts of Ms. Gao, Mr. Wang, and Ms. Peng are unknown.

8. Dongguang County

In Zewang Village, Nanxiakou Town, officers arrested about ten practitioners on the afternoon of August 25, 2010.

The same day in Dongguang County, officers from the county criminal division harassed several practitioners, and arrested Mr. Liu Wenxue at his home at around 2:00 p.m.

The same day in Chengzhuang Village, Lian Town, officers from the Lian Town Police Station arrested Mr. Li Huaixing, and searched his computer repair shop. Mr. Li is detained at the Dongguang Detention Centre.

9. Qing County

Around 10:00 p.m. on August 25th, agents from the Qing County 610 Office and officers from the Qing County Police Department harassed practitioners, and arrested Ms. Ma Qingling, Mr. Yao Wei, Mr. Zhang Tieshan, Mr. Li Xueming, and Ms. Bai Suqin. The whereabouts of a non-local practitioner are unknown. The five practitioners are imprisoned at the Qing County Detention Centre.

Officers Li Zhenjiang, Yang Jinyi, and others broke into Mr. Li Xueming's grocery store when it was ready to close, and arrested Mr. Li and his employee Mr. Zhang Tieshan. The officers also seized the store computer.

Officers Wang Zhengfeng and others harassed a practitioner at his home. Two young officers first knocked on the practitioner's door, pretending to be the classmates of his son. After the practitioner perceived their plot, they sent another person, who pretended to be a patient, asking to fill a medicine prescription and requesting that his wife go to the hospital. After the practitioner perceived their plot again, they disclosed who they were and threatened the practitioner if he did not open the door. The practitioner refused. The police stayed downstairs until 8:00 a.m. the next day.

A team of officers ransacked Ms. Ma Qingling's home, and seized her computer, cash and property with estimated worth of up to 10,000 yuan. Ms. Ma and Mr. Yao Wei were arrested. One of her relatives is missing.

Another team of officers, including a group from the Mendian Town Police Station, went to Ms. Bai Suqin's home in Zhangyanglou Village around 11:00 p.m. on August 25th. They claimed to be checking resident identification, and then searched her home, seized her property, arrested her and imprisoned her at the Qing County Detention Centre.

An officer who claimed to be director Yang stole 350 yuan cash from Ms. Bai's wallet, and threatened her, saying, "Give me your savings certificates. I will take care of them for you. If the agents from the county 610 Office come, they won't be as polite as me." After they left, the family found that all the tires on their motorcycle and bicycles were slashed, and the motorcycle key was stolen.

Five practitioners were detained at the Qing County Detention Centre. It was said that the guards ordered inmates to brutally beat Mr. Zhang Tieshan. Some sources said that Mr. Yao Wei was transferred to Cangzhou City Forced Labour Camp.

10. Yanshan County

Around 8:00 p.m. on August 25th, Liu Zhengming, director of the Yanshan County Domestic Security Division, and other officers arrested several practitioners in Yanshan County, including practitioners in Qingyun Town: Mr. Chang Xuejun, Ms. Wang Shuqin, Ms. Zhao Jinli, and Ms. Geng Jiefeng.

A dozen officers from the Yanshan County Police Department broke into Mr. Chang's home in Qingyun Town, arrested him, and seized his satellite dish and computer. Later, the family received an arrest notice issued by the Qingyun Police Department in Shandong Province. When they went to the Qingyun Police Department to demand Mr. Chang's release, Li Guangrong, an agent of the 610 Office, said that Mr. Chang was the one who disclosed that he persecuted practitioners, and claimed that, "I listen to Jiang Zemin, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution]. I will send Chang to a forced labour camp."

Mr. Chang's wife went to the police department daily to demand his release. Li Guangrong arrested her and detained her in the Qingyun Police Department. Details are under investigation.

11. Suning County

On the evening of August 25th, under the orders of the Suning County 610 Office, Zhao Zhongyao, Domestic Security Division officers Jin Guohong and Zhang Ruiqiang, and officers from the Chenguan Police Station and the Wanli Police Station, arrested three practitioners and searched their home. The practitioners were Mr. Yang Xinwei in Zhainan Village, Chenguan Town; Ms. Wang Ruiying in Zhaibei Village, Chengguan Town; Ms. Xiuying in Luzhuang Village, Wanli Township.

Yin Jianxing, director of the Shisu Village Police Station, and several officers broke into the home of Ms. Jingfaen and Ms. Fenglan, harassed them, and seized their satellite dish and property. One hundred yuan cash was found missing after the police left.

Around 10:00 p.m., Zhao Zhongyao from the Suning County 610 Office and Zhang Ruiqiang from the Suning County Domestic Security Division ordered Li Guangran, director of the Shangcun Township Police Station, Bian Wanhui from the county police department, and other officers to harass Mr. Wang Maolin at his home. They seized his two computers, a DVD player, printer, paper cutter, Falun Gong books and discs. Police harassed the family again another day.

Around 9:30 p.m. on August 25th, director Yu Longfang of the Fuzuo Township Police Station, a political instructor, and an officer, guided by the cadre of Beishibao Village, harassed Ms. Yi Hongjuan at her home, and seized her satellite dish.

Around 10:30 p.m. on August 25th, director Zhang Zhihong of the Chenguan Police Station ordered officer Li Zhizong to lead half a dozen officers to harass Mr. Xi Fengyan at his home in Zhaibei Village. They ransacked his home and ordered him to sign a document.

Around 9:00 p.m. on August 26th, Li Zhizong and three officers harassed Mr. Xing Mingfeng at his home, and seized his Falun Gong books and computer.

Around 10:00 p.m. on August 26th, Li Zhizhong, Zhang Guohong and three officers harassed Ms. Zang Jinduo at her home, and seized her two Falun Gong books.

Around 9:00 p.m. on August 26th, 2010, Zhang Hengxiang, Xu, Ma and officers from the Fuzuo Township Police Station harassed Ms. Hou Ruxian at her home, and seized her three Falun Gong books.

Around 11:00 p.m. on August 26th, the director and officers from the Chenguan Police Station harassed Mr. Zhang Junming at home, and seized his Falun Gong book and MP3 player.

Around August 20th, Zhaohe Village officials led by Shangcun Township officials harassed practitioners Mr. Wang Maolin, and Mr. Fan Xiuwen.

12. Hejian City

Around 6:00 a.m. on August 26th, officers from the Sucheng Town Police Station broke into Mr. Ma Genyuan's house while he was sleeping, searched his home, and seized his two Falun Gong books, and an incense burner.
