Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Zhixian Sentenced to Four Years

Ms. Wang Zhixian from Anshan City, Liaoning Province was put on trial at the Tiedong District Court on May 7th, 2010. She was sentenced to four years of imprisonment by a court which is controlled by the Anshan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong).

Police from the Gangcheng Police Station, Tiedong District, arrested Ms. Wang. The Tiedong District Police Sub-Branch, Gangcheng Police Station, Tiedong District Court and the Procuratorate controlled by the Anshan 610 Office collaborated to falsely accuse Ms. Wang. The court had decided on the trial date internally but Ms. Wang's family members were told that the date was not certain yet. Her family hired a lawyer who lived in another city. Without knowing the court hearing date ahead of time, the lawyer did not know when to go to the court. The court notified the lawyer on May 5th, the same day as the trial was to take place. After the lawyer reasoned strongly with them, the trial date was postponed for two days.

On May 7th, Ms. Wang was tried at the Tiedong District Court. Her lawyer defended her and entered a "not guilty" plea. The chief judge interrupted the lawyer many times during his defence. However, the lawyer firmly continued with his defence, and asked the court to release Ms. Wang unconditionally. The trial ended at noon without a verdict. At the end of the trial, the 610 Office called the court.

Later Ms. Wang was sentenced to four years of imprisonment. She is detained in the Anshan First Detention Centre.
