Forty-seven-year-old Ms. Wang Shuying is a former saleswoman in the knitting department of the Jiamusi Department Store. After the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began in 1999, she was repeatedly arrested for her beliefs, and lost her government job. In September 2010, police arrested her again. She is currently detained at the Jiamusi Detention Centre.
Around 7:00 p.m. on September 9th, 2010, officers from the Xilin Police Station of the Xiangyang Police Department in Jiamusi, led by deputy director Shao Kunhai, broke into her home while Ms. Wang was cooking dinner. Without showing any warrant, they arrested her, searched her home, and seized her Falun Gong books and printouts. They even refused to answer her family's questions about which police division they were working for and where she would be taken.
The officers interrogated her at the Xilin Police Station. A plainclothes policewoman printed some documents, and said to Ms. Wang, "You sign these now, and let us take your fingerprints. If you cooperate, we will release you in a couple of days." She refused. Another policeman came in with a big board. He pushed her against the wall, hung the board in front of her, and took her pictures. The policewoman grasped her hand and took her fingerprints by force. Shao Kunhai held up the documents, saying, "Three years (of forced labour). Three years. These (documents) are enough."
Ms. Wang's family finally found out that Ms. Wang was taken to the Xilin Police Station. They went there around 8:30 p.m. Officers first did not speak to them, but then tried to coerce them to sign documents. The family refused.
Ms. Wang was taken to the Jiamusi Detention Centre around 10:30 p.m. The family got the news when they inquired of her whereabouts the next morning in the Xilin Police Station.
Ms. Wang was arrested three times between 2000 and 2003.
In 2000, she was arrested for appealing in Beijing for the right to practise Falun Gong. She was released after being detained for more than a month and then extorted out of 1000 yuan1 by the police.
In 2001, she was arrested for declaring null and void everything that she said and wrote earlier under duress under the intense persecution. She was released after being detained for more than a month and extorted out of 1500 yuan.
In 2003, she was arrested after being reported by her neighbour for practising Falun Gong exercises at home. She was subjected to three years of forced labour, but was spared because she was in serious condition from the persecution.
