Ms. Du Xiuying Sentenced to Forced Labour Camp, Having Already Lost Her Husband and Brother-in-law in the Persecution

On the afternoon of September 12th, 2010, practitioners Ms. Du Xiuying, Ms. Wu Liyan, Ms. Wen Yanqiu, and Ms. Bao Shufen from Hulan District of Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province were reported and arrested by the authorities while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong in Xupu Township in Hulan District. They were all detained at Hulan District Detention Centre. On September 27th, Ms. Du Xiying and Ms. Bao Shufen were sentenced to forced labour. On September 29th, Ms. Wu Liyan and Ms. Wen Yanqiu were released.

Ms. Du Xiuying is currently being held at the detention centre and has not yet been transferred to the labour camp, due to her health issues.

In the brutal persecution by the Chinese Communist Party regime, Ms. Du Xiying's husband, Mr. Yu Huaicai, and her brother-in-law Mr. Li Min, were tortured to death by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities.

Her husband Mr. Yu Huaicai was arrested by the local CCP authorities on November 15th, 2006. After January 1st, 2007, he was taken to the Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp, where he was force-fed during a hunger strike. During family visitation, his parents saw him wearing handcuffs, his health was deteriorating, and his body was extremely weakened. He opened his mouth, but could not speak. Nobody knows what tortures he suffered exactly. He died on April 22nd, 2007.

Ms. Du Xiuying's older sister, Ms. Du Xiuzhen, and her husband Mr. Li Min, were practitioners in Harbin. They were arrested by the CCP authorities on the evening of March 10, 2005. They were savagely beaten while hanging by handcuffs. After five months of torture, they were both sentenced to eight years in prison. Mr. Li Min was taken to the seventh ward of Daqing Prison, where he was shackled and tortured to the verge of death. His body became extremely weak.. His health deteriorated dramatically, and he suffered symptoms of cerebral thrombosis. Mr. Li Min died from the torture and abuse in Daqing Prison on May 23rd, 2009.

Ms. Du Xiuzhen is currently still detained at the Harbin Women's Prison.
