Mr. Liang Yuncheng Remains in Custody Despite Having Lost Sight in One Eye

Mr. Liang Yuncheng has been rushed to the hospital twice while being held at the Yuncheng Detention Centre. He has lost sight in one eye. Nevertheless, members of the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) of the Fengcheng Political and Judiciary Committee refuse to release him.

Mr. Liang Yuncheng, Mr. Qu Shanlin, Mr. Jiao Lin, Ms. Wu Juan, and Ms. Sun Zhongqin went to Minzhu and Ziyou villages in Baiqi Town to tell others the facts about Falun Gong on September 5th, 2010. A villager, Kang Qingdong, turned them in to the police. At around 8:00 p.m. Cao Dejun, Jiang Jun, and other officers from the Baiqi Town Police Station arrested the five practitioners. Cao and other officers beat the practitioners all night. Mr. Jiao, Mr. Liang, and Mr. Qu were taken to the Erlongshan Detention Centre in Fengcheng City the following day. Ms. Wu and Ms. Sun were taken to the Baifangzi Detention Centre in Dandong City.

Recently, Mr. Jiao suffered loss of consciousness due to an ulcer he developed due to ill treatment in the detention centre. The authorities were afraid of being held responsible for his condition and released him. The Baiqi Police Station, the 610 Office of the Fengcheng Political and Judiciary Committee, and the Domestic Security Division of the Fengcheng Police Department are planning to send his case to the Fengcheng City Procuratorate in preparation for sentencing the five practitioners to prison.
