Ms. Feng Xiaomei from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province has been detained for 18 months at Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. Her term has been extended.
In May 2009, the Shijiazhuang City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) ordered the authorities in Gaocheng City to sentence Ms. Feng to forced labour until November 11th.
Ms. Feng's family went to visit her at the forced labour camp on November 2nd, but were not allowed to see her. They were told that since she was going to be released soon, they would not be able to see her until the day of her release. When her family went back to the forced labour camp on November 11th, the camp authorities told them Ms. Feng's term had been extended until the end of November because she wouldn't give up practising Falun Gong. The camp authorities refused to tell the family the exact date of Ms. Feng's release. When they were finally able to talk to the two captains of the first team at the labour camp, they were told that Ms. Feng's term was extended because of an "internal regulation" policy of the forced labour camp.
Ms. Feng's family and friends have tried to appeal her case to various government offices and other higher authorities, but to no avail. The government office personnel told them the decision was based on a policy made by the Department of Justice and the 610 Office.
It is a common practice by authorities at Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp to arbitrarily extend practitioners' terms in violation of the Chinese constitution. The majority of the practitioners who remain steadfast in their belief are subjected to extended terms.
Ms. Feng's family has learned that she will be released on November 27th.
