Recently, it was my class' turn to speak under the flag. In order to correct what last week's speaker said negatively about Falun Gong, I wrote an article titled "To Be A Good Student Like This" to be read under the flag by a student representative from my class. The night before and the morning of the ceremony, I hoped that the principal would not attend the ceremony. I knew that if the principal didn't interfere, no one would. The principal ended up coming right after my class representative finished reading. After the reading, there was long applause that came from the bottom of these pure students' hearts. Everyone acknowledges and respects the sacred principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The article "To Be A Good Student Like This" follows:
In primary school, I was too young to judge things, learning whatever came along. But now I am a middle school student. How can I be a good student in the future?
There is a wise old saying: You can be bad in 3 seconds while being good takes 3 years of discipline. In order to be a good student, one must have a good understanding of some basic guiding principles of life. In my future middle school journey, I will use the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" to guide myself to be a good and respected person. If I always have "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" in my heart, I should benefit profoundly. In my daily life, I always live my life according to these three words. "Truthfulness" means speaking truthfully, being a truthful person and acting truthfully; "Compassion" means being compassionate towards others; "Forbearance" means being tolerant of others, and whenever in a conflict, to look inside oneself first and try to be tolerant or try to explain things in a friendly and kind-hearted way. An old saying goes that taking a step back will bring you to another brand new world.
I will look up to Falun Dafa practitioners, who practice "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," as my role models for people who practice these principles are good people. Meantime, these principles lead me to be more compassionate. I am able to study more diligently and also able to help others more. I will also help those little friends who are younger than me to understand what I say and let everyone know how to be good and noble people, so we can make our world a better, more peaceful place.
I will try to be a good student like this, a good student everyone can look up to and be proud of. Thank you.Dear respectful teachers and my fellow students, good morning! My speech today under our national flag is entitled "To Be a Good Student like This."
(Applause)
