Dalian Practitioner Wang Yukun, 56, Arrested

Mr. Wang Yukun, 56, is a Falun Gong practitioner in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He was arrested by officers from the Dalianwan Police Station, and is currently being detained at the Dalian Drug Rehabilitation Centre.

Mr. Wang began practising Falun Gong in 1998. At that time, he suffered from sinus cancer, kidney stones, and other diseases. He had a bad temper and constantly had conflicts with members of his family. After he started practising Falun Gong, both his health and attitude improved. He understood that one should follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and be a good person. Miraculously, all of his health problems disappeared. His family life also became harmonious.

On November 23rd, as Mr. Wang spoke to people about Falun Gong at a low-cost home construction site in Huanshui Community, Ganjinzi District, he was reported to the authorities. Police from Dalianwan Police Station soon arrived and arrested him at around 5:00 p.m..

Dalianwan Police Station told Mr. Wang's family to come to the station, saying that they needed to collect some testimony. Mr.Wang's family members rushed to the police station. They told the police that Mr. Wang didn't violate any laws, and the police should release him unconditionally. They said the police were persecuting a good man, fabricating charges, and breaking the law, rather than enforcing it. The police claimed that Mr. Wang's family was making trouble for no reason, and refused to admit that Mr. Wang was detained there. The police proceeded to forcibly drag Mr. Wang's wife, a lady in her fifties, out of the station. They took photographs and recorded the whole process, attempting to find an excuse to persecute Mr. Wang's family and friends.

Mr. Wang's family had no choice but to wait outside the station overnight. The next day, the police lied to them, saying that Mr. Wang had been sent to a detention centre. Mr. Wang's family then went to Yaojia Detention Centre to bring him some clothing. Personnel at the detention centre said that he wasn't there. Mr. Wang's family then inquired at Dalian Drug Rehabilitation Centre, and found that he was detained there.
