Wang Cuixiang, 48, from Zouping County, Shandong, was persecuted before the Beijing Olympics. She was tortured in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp until her health severely deteriorated and she could no longer take care of herself. She died in November 2010.

Wang Cuixiang started practising Falun Gong at the end of 1997. After a short time, her illnesses were cured completely. She was arrested and taken to Zouping Detention Centre for a month because she discussed the facts about Falun Gong in 1999, after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started its persecution.

Before the Olympics in 2008, the CCP and local policemen went to Ms. Wang's apartment and confiscated a Falun Gong book. They used it as "evidence" to arrest and take her to the detention centre. The police tried to force her to slander Falun Gong. She refused, so they put her in the No. 1 team of the Wangcun Second Women's Forced Labour Camp for two years.

During that time, Ms. Wang stayed firm in her belief in Falun Gong, so she was harshly persecuted. After enduring horrible torture, she could not take it anymore and wrote statements to renounce practising Falun Gong against her will. After a while, she decided that she wanted to return to Falun Gong cultivation, so she wrote another statement to that effect and gave it to the police. Because of that, the police tortured her even more. She was forced to stand for days without sleep. They had some other people being held in the camp watch her. Sometimes they didn't give her food or water, and also took away items sent by her family. In the end her legs were severely swollen, and she couldn't feel her feet. The police even called her husband to persuade him to join them in persecuting his own wife.

Under this horrible pressure, Wang Cuixiang collapsed. She fell unconscious and lost a lot of weight. She could barely talk during the times when she was awake. The camp took her to the hospital, but her condition did not improve. They allowed Ms. Wang's family to take her home around November 2009, and extorted 3,000 yuan1 from her family for medical care.

Ms. Wang couldn't take care of herself after going home. Her husband went everywhere trying to find a way to cure her, but to no avail. The local police went to her apartment this summer to harass her, despite her precarious health, making her more ill. Wang Cuixiang died in November 2010.
