Nearly 20 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Tangshan

On November 24th, 12 or more Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in and around Tangshan. From November 17th to November 24th, nearly 20 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in the same area.

Below are the details:

On November 24th, Zhang Yibiao from Leting County was arrested and his current whereabouts are unknown. Li Desheng from Luan County was arrested and has now been released. Jiang Shuncai from Luannan County was arrested.

Xu Cuihua and Xu Xiangzhi from Dafenggu, Yuehe Township, the Kaiping District, were arrested and taken to the Yuehe Police Station, and their house was ransacked.

That same morning, Ms. Ye Hongxia was arrested while at work in Jidong Prison Hospital. She is currently being held in the Changningdao Detention Centre in Tangshan.

Mr. Zhang Zhizhou and his wife, Ms. Wang Jinlan, from the Deyuanli Residential Community in Tangshan had their house ransacked, and Mr. Zhang was taken to the Changningdao Detention Centre. Because of poor health, he was released that same night. In Caochangjie in Tangshan, Ms. Li Lihua was arrested and her house was ransacked by officers from the Beiqiaotun Police Station.

The same day, Li Qiang's apartment was ransacked by the Tangshan Domestic Security Division, Lubei Police Department and Chaoyangdao Police Station. Officers took away a computer, DVDs, and personal items without leaving receipts. Li was released at 5:00 p.m.. Han Xiuying was arrested for going to Falun Gong websites and the house ransacked by the Fengrun District Police Department.

While Mr. Li Shaohui from Xinqu was talking to people about Falun Gong, he was arrested by officers from the Linyinlu Police Station. Xie Guoxiang from Liujiaying Township, the Fengruan District, Tangshan, was arrested and taken to the Liujiaying Police Station for distributing Falun Gong pamphlets.

At 10:00 a.m. on November 17th, Ms. Yao Yumin, from Wushizhuang Village, Fengrun District, was arrested by three officers from the Fengrun Domestic Security Division and Quanhetou Town. They took her computer, and Falun Gong books. Because she has two young children to look after, her husband, who is also a practitioner, offered himself in exchange. He was held for 15 days in Fengrun Detention Centre.

At 6:00 p.m. on November 17th, Ms. Zhang Haiyan's house in Huangtuqiao, Caitingqiao Town, was ransacked by the Yutian County Domestic Security Division. They took a computer and personal items and arrested her; her husband, Mr. Huang Kejun, and their child, who is not a practitioner. They released the child, alone, in the middle of the night. Mr. Huang and Ms. Zhang were transferred to the Yutian Detention Centre on November 19th.

On November 17th, Ms. Sheng Jinling from Tangshan Metal Company in Hebei was arrested at work by the Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong]. They also ransacked her house, taking Falun Gong books and her computer. She is currently being held in the Zunhua Detention Centre.

At 9:00 a.m. on November 22nd, officers from the Huanggezhuang Police Station arrested Liu Yuzhu, Zuo Desheng, and Xia Youhui from Fengnan while they were at Xia Youhui's house. Liu Yuzhu's house in Nanliutun, Tangshan, and Zuo Desheng's house were ransacked at the same time. Zuo Desheng has been released, but Liu Yuzhu and Xia Yuhui are still being detained.
