Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Jingzhou from Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, was arrested on December 14th, 2010, and held in the Wuhan City, Dongxihu District Detention Centre. Fifteen days later he was moved and is currently in the Dongxihu District Correctional Centre.
When his mother, Ms. Zhou Zulan, who is in her 80s, heard that her son had been arrested, she and several other relatives left their home on January 20th, to find him. They travelled on many buses, enduring bitter cold and snow, to get to the Xincun Police Station, Dongxihu District Public Security Bureau, in order to inquire about her son. The police were very abusive towards them.
Walking through deep snow, they went to the National Security Bureau. The arresting officer, Liu Jun, and the case officer both refused to see them, and the policeman on duty would not let them in.
Around noon, after Ms. Zhou and her relatives had travelled another 20 miles to the Dongxihu District Correctional Centre, the front office guard refused them entry, claiming he was off duty. The group stood outside and waited for two hours. At 2:30 p.m., they returned to the centre. The front office guard, Shao Hongshan, badge number BA0766, refused them entry again. Ms. Zhou tried to insist that she be allowed to see her son, but she was forced to leave after only seeing his picture on a computer. She was very upset and left four hundred yuan (60.70USD) for him.
Mr. Zhang Jingzhou and fellow practitioner Mr. Peng Liang were arrested on December 14th by officers from the Xincun Police Station, Dongxihu District Public Security Bureau. They were held for 15 days in a detention centre.
Mr. Zhang was transferred to the Dongxihu Correctional Centre, Mr. Peng Liang was sent to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Centre in the Wuchang District, Wuhan City.
Dongxihu District Public Security Bureau claimed that their cases were transferred to the Wuhan City Public Security Bureau National Security Subdivision. Officials from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) have claimed that they would sentence the practitioners to prison.
