Taiwan: Taitung County Council Asks Central Government to Deny Entry to Human Rights Violators

The Pingtung County Council passed a provisional bill on January 28th, 2011, “...calling on the central government to deny entry of human rights violators; cities that respect for human rights does not invite, welcome, or accept human right violators.” After the vote, people from all walks of life in Taitung County expressed their support, and the Taitung County government wrote to the central government and other government organisations to urge the implementation of the bill.

The Taitung County government thus becomes the first local government among the country's 12 counties and cities to have passed such a human rights bill. The county wrote to the central government's Immigration Department of the Ministry of the Interior and sent a copy to the Mainland Affairs Council.

Tseng Kuo-jung, the Taitung County Youth Career Development Association chairman, suggested that the Mainland Affairs Council should publicise via the media the despicable acts carried out the Chinese Communist Party's human rights violators, and solemnly declare that these people are not welcome in Taiwan, so as to exert pressure on the violators not to abuse human rights any longer and ultimately guarantee the universal value of human rights.

Cheng Sun-Chun, the Taitung County Fire Department-Dawu fire captain, said it was very important to promote the bill after putting it into effect. He said, “Since we enjoy human rights in Taiwan, we should do our part to promote the protection of human rights.”

Mr. Fang Min said that five high-ranking CCP officials who have participated in the persecution of Falun Gong came to Taiwan last year and were immediately sued by the High Prosecutors Office on charges of “genocide” by the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association. The wrongdoings of the five human rights scoundrels, and the lawsuits against them, were exposed throughout Taiwan. Mr. Fang believes that the government should deny entry to the human rights violators.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen said, “Taiwanese people believe in 'good will be rewarded and evil will meet with retribution.' We also believe that gods are watching us. If we allow human rights violators to enter Taiwan, it is tantamount to condoning crimes. Can gods allow this to happen? If we can support and uphold justice, and stand by good people, we will accumulate good fortune for our offspring and the country.”
