News from Japan: as of July 2, 2002, Hong Kong Customs expelled the last three of over one hundred Falun Gong practitioners detained under the excuse of security on the occasion of Chinese President Jiang's visit to Hong Kong. The Hong Kong authorities have followed the direction of the Jiang regime, making a mockery of "One country, two systems" rule.
After Jiang left Hong Kong in the afternoon of July 1, the customs officials and police were visibly relieved. At 10:00 p.m., they closed the detention room especially set up for detaining Falun Gong practitioners and transferred the last three practitioners to a detention room inside the customs facility. Two of the practitioners were of Chinese descent from Japan and the other was a Western practitioner from Australia.
