Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Miaomiao, a woman in her mid-twenties, was detained at the First Section of Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shijiazhuang City for one year of forced labour. Under orders from Wang Weiwei, the section chief, several inmates tortured her. They used extremely base methods, including sodomising her with broom handles and their fingers. The torture caused tremendous damage to her both physically and psychologically. Three months have passed, and Ms. Hu has still not fully recovered from the trauma. Her father, Mr. Hu Mingliang, was secretly arrested on February 24th, for suing the authorities responsible for the mistreatment of his daughter.
Ms. Hu Miaomiao bled for a long time after being sexually assaulted in the camp. She could not stand up straight or walk normally. She had to move slowly to the toilet with the help of a stool. In order to block their crimes from being exposed, the camp authorities would not allow her to have contact with anyone. They shut all the doors so that others cannot see her when she hobbles toward the toilet. Her situation is very difficult. She was also deprived of her right to receive family visits.
Her father heard of the tragic situation his daughter faced and rushed from Zhangjiakou City to Shijiazhuang City, but was not allowed to see her until January 11th. Ms. Hu Miaomiao was helped by prisoners, and she was not able to stand up straight. She cried and told her father of the tortures she had endured. She said, “Dad, you must help me and hire a lawyer to voice my grievance, even if you have to use up all the savings!”
Mr. Hu was determined to help his daughter, and he hired a lawyer, filed a lawsuit, and was determined to bring justice for his daughter. The camp authorities tried with all their might to block the lawsuit. The lawyer requested to see his client several times, but his requests were all rejected. After seeing no results from the first lawsuit, Mr. Hu filed a second lawsuit in Beijing with the Justice Ministry, Public Safety Ministry, People's Congress, Central Government Appeal's Office, and the Highest Procuratorate.
When Mr. Hu returned home, the local police came to his door and threatened him with physical harm. Mr. Hu demanded to be allowed to visit his daughter, but was refused until February 24th, when they agreed to let him see her. Mr. Hu went to the camp in the afternoon. Upon his arrival, the camp employee tried to take him inside, but the Huaian County police dragged Mr. Hu into one of their vehicles, took him to the Huaian County Police Department and interrogated him that evening. They later took Mr. Hu to the Chaigoubao Town government, locked him up, and blocked his mobile phone.
On February 26th, Mr. Hu was secretly taken into custody in a nearby village, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
