Mr. Xu Zhibin is currently imprisoned at the Jinzhou City Prison in Liaoning province. His family has not been allowed to visit him. The prison said it was because Mr. Xu's local police station did not write a statement to prove that Mr. Xu promised not to practise Falun Gong.
Mr. Xu Zhibin started practising Falun Gong in 1995.
Since September 1999, two months after Jiang Zemin's, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime launched the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, Xu Zhibin has been arrested and detained six times, and each time he was tortured.
On January 6th, 2001, police officers from the criminal team of the Public Security Bureau deceived Xu Zhibin into going to the Jinzhou district detention centre and then kept him there. Ten days later, he was secretly transferred to the Wafangdian detention centre. When the police in Jinzhou district interrogated him, Xu Zhibin was forced to sit on a cement floor for over two hours wearing only his underwear. It was wintertime and he was so chilled that he had difficulty breathing.
On April 27th, 2002, Xu Zhibin was on his way to a fellow practitioner's home when police officers from Jinzhou district Longwang Police Station arrested him. Police tortured him using a method called “hanging a bucket of water” on his neck and struck his hands, face, and head. He was tortured for a whole night until his face was swollen and he could not move. His arms and hands were numb. The police kept him in Jinzhou district detention centre. Xu Zhibin went on a hunger strike to protest being tortured. He was finally released two months later. When he was released, he only weighed 70-80 pounds (he is approximately 5 ft. 11 in. tall).
On September 12th, 2002, Zhao Kan, assistant director of Jinzhou district Guangming Police Station, led several police officers as they forced their way into Xu Zhibin's mother's home and arrested Xu Zhibin. Later, he was sentenced to three years in prison. Xu Zhibin went on a hunger strike in protest. The guards tried to transfer him to the Dalian City Correction Camp, but he was not accepted because of his poor physical condition. Xu Zhibin was temporarily released.
On September 28th, Xu Zhibin was abducted by police from Dalian city Shahekou district Domestic Security Division at Malangzi area, Dalian City. Mr. Xu was taken to Dalian Yaojia Detention Centre where he was once handcuffed for an entire month. His hands and feet were chained and he was forced onto a cement floor and force-fed.
During Mr. Xu's detention period, Ganjingzi District Court sentenced Xu Zhibin to fourteen years in prison. On April 23rd, 2003, he was taken to Wafangdian Prison. Because of long-term maltreatment and torture, he had lost all feeling in his feet and had difficulty walking. Sometimes he needed two people to carry him. His family repeatedly requested medical treatment for him, but Wafangdian Prison staff denied the family's requests.
On December 19th, 2007, while Xu Zhibin was detained at Wafangdian Prison, he and 17 other Falun Gong practitioners were transferred to Jinzhou Prison.
From April 2009 to February 2011 (22 months), his family has been unable to visit him in prison.
From 2002 to now, Xu Zhibin has been imprisoned for nine years altogether, which had made life very difficult for his wife and child. Xu Zhibin is still in the prison serving a 14-year term.
