Older Practitioner Mr. Liu Chuanjiang the Third Practitioner to Die within Two Weeks in Jiamusi Prison

Mr. Liu Chuanjiang died in Jiamusi Prison on the morning of March 8th, 2011, shortly after Mr. Qin Yueming died on February 26th and Mr. Yu Yungang on March 5th. All three practitioners had been held since February 21st in the “Strict Management Ward” before their deaths.

Jiamusi Prison is currently in lockdown. According to sources from inside China, many prison guards were in the third ward on March 9th and March 10th. It is likely that they were scrambling to conceal the facts.

Mr. Liu Chuanjiang was sentenced for practising Falun Gong by Wuyiling Intermediate Court on November 5th, 2008. First held in the ninth ward in Jiamusi Prison, he was put in the “Strict Management Ward” on February 21st, 2011. It is highly likely that he was severely tortured and left in critical condition. The guards claimed he had heart problems. They removed him from the “Strict Management Ward” and took him to the third ward. Then they took him the emergency department. Mr. Liu passed away in the prison hospital at around 1:00 a.m. on March 8th, 2011. His body was taken away at 2:00 a.m., about an hour later. On March 10th, Mr. Liu's family was deceived by the authorities into approving the cremation of Mr. Liu's body.

The “Strict Management Ward” was set-up on February 21st and holds nine Falun Gong practitioners selected from all the other wards. The purpose of creating this special ward is to achieve a “transformation” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] rate of 85 per cent. Those transferred into this ward were not allowed to bring with them any personal belongings or daily necessities. They are not allowed family visits or phone calls or to purchase daily necessities. Each practitioner is monitored and hounded by several prisoners, who endlessly pressure and torture him to write statements saying that he will stop practising Falun Gong. Three of those nine have now died, Mr. Liu and Mr. Qin Yueming of purported but unconfirmed “heart conditions” and Mr. Yu Yungang of outright torture.
