Older Practitioner Mr. Liu Shuisheng, Scheduled to Be Released after Eight-Year Detention, Taken to Brainwashing Centre One Day Before Release Date

On March 10th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Shuisheng was to have been released after eight years of detention in the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang, Hubei Province. However, on March 9th, Qu Shen and other personnel from the Jianghan District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) secretly transferred Mr. Liu to the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Centre.

At 2 p.m. on March 9th, Mr. Liu Shuisheng’s wife, Ms. Hu Mingxiu was about to rent a car to pick up her husband from the Fanjiatai Prison. She was stopped by plainclothes police officers from the Tangjiatun Police Department and placed under house arrest. A police vehicle remained parked in front of her home and the police watched her around the clock.

Mr. Liu Shuisheng lives in Jianghan District, Wuhan City. Before practising Falun Gong, he suffered from back problems, bone hyperplasia and severe rheumatic arthritis, which confined him to bed. In April 1996, Mr. Liu started to practise Falun Gong, and six months later, he could get out of bed and walk. Soon after, he could go to the practice site by himself to attend the group exercises. All of his illnesses disappeared.

In July 1999, after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong, the local police often went to Mr. Liu's home to harass him. His home was ransacked three times. Mr. Liu and his wife were each taken to detention centres and brainwashing centres about ten times. His disabled son was often left home alone, unable to take care of himself. Mr. Liu’s mother passed away, severely traumatised by the ongoing persecution.

On March 10th, 2003, Mr. Liu Shuisheng and three other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested at a Falun Gong informational materials production site by officers from the Wuhan 610 Office and the Wuhan Police Department. In December of the same year, Mr. Liu was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Dongxihu District Court. He was first detained in the Qinduankou Prison in Hanyang, Hubei Province and then transferred to the Fanjiatai Prison.

Now his prison term is over. Even according to CCP law, he should be released unconditionally. However, the 610 Office sent him to a brainwashing centre for further persecution.
