Older Mr. Hu Xinzheng Henan Province Sentenced to a 5-Year Prison Term in 2007

Falun Gong practitioner Hu Xinzheng operated a book vending booth in the Lotus Market in Chuanhui District. Because of his belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, Mr. Hu was arrested by personnel of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in March 2007. The officers took away books and other materials worth more than 10,000 yuan¹. They then framed Mr. Hu and sentenced him to five years in prison. In the detention centre and the Xinmi Prison, the police instigated criminals in the prison to verbally insult and curse him, and give him beatings. They also tortured him and forced him to undergo brainwashing.

Mr. Hu has an 80-year-old mother and a mentally handicapped brother, so he has carried a heavy financial burden and had been living in poverty. Since he started practising Falun Gong, Mr. Hu came to realise the true purpose of life and became very cheerful and tolerant. He lived by the principles of Falun Gong – Truth-Compassion-Forbearance – striving to be a good person at all times. Mr. Hu’s life was full of happiness before the persecution began.

When the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong, Mr. Hu saw through the lies and deception of the CCP and upheld his beliefs. With a compassionate heart, he spread the truth about Falun Gong and exposed the CCP’s lies to the general public so that people of conscience would come to know the truth and be rewarded with good returns.

On March 6th, 2007, Mr. Hu was arrested by policemen Wang and Zhuo from Shanan Police Sub-Division of Zhoukou City. The two policemen also ransacked Mr. Hu’s booth and confiscated his merchandise. In addition, they stole his MP3 player, tape recorder, and a big tricycle with reinforced structure. Mr. Hu’s loss of private property totalled 14,030 yuan.

After he was taken into custody, the two policemen sent Mr. Hu to a detention centre and then gave false testimony to formally arrest him. Later, the juvenile court of the Chuanhui District Court of Zhoukou City sentenced Mr. Hu to five years in prison for the crime of “violation of law enforcement.” Mr. Hu was sent to Xinmi Prison for further persecution.

In the Zhoukou Detention Centre and the Xinmi Prison, the policemen forced Mr. Hu to undergo brainwashing and tortured him. They had criminals insult and curse him as well as beat him. The cruel and relentless torture he experienced was unimaginable and unbearable.
